The obsession with President Donald Trump's teeth continued Thursday, a day after the commander in chief slurred during the speech in which he declared the U.S. would recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
After being mocked by Trevor Noah on The Daily Show, #DentureDonald trended nationwide across the U.S. for much of Thursday as people speculated whether Trump has false teeth.
On Thursday night's show, Noah offered an update on the hysteria. Earlier in the day, the White House commented on Trump's slurred speech saying his throat was dry. And at a media briefing, press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said that the president has a "physical scheduled for the first part of next year."
Noah said, "I don't think it's helpful for us to debate if it was Trump's dentures that came loose, or his dentures became misaligned, or if it was some other denture-related issue. We may never know the tooth—er, truth."
Noah then sarcastically pleaded with viewers not to tweet #DentureDonald and "give the man some dignity."
The South African comedian started a Twitter firestorm Wednesday night when he deduced that Trump must have fake teeth.
"As disturbing as it was to watch Donald Trump add fuel to the Middle East conflict, it was even more disturbing to watch the conflict between Donald Trump's teeth and his tongue," Noah said.
"We all know what's going on here. President Trump is wearing dentures, people. This happened to my grandfather all the time...his dentures would start falling out, and he wouldn't be able to finish his sentence."
Noah added, "Fake teeth, fake hair, fake tan—there's no part of his body that's real."
By Thursday morning, #DentureDonald was trending across the U.S. and inspiring some pretty comical tweets:
