Channing Tatum Gives His Honest Opinion on Taylor Swift

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors

Channing Tatum recently shared his honest opinion on Taylor Swift and particularly noted one special skill the pop star has.

Tatum appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, July 11, where he recalled attending Swift's Eras Tour concert in Los Angeles last August and offered the audience a sweet glimpse into his friendship with the 14-time Grammy winner.

"I was a fan of the music because I've listened to her forever but I did not know she was such an unstoppable force," the Magic Mike star said. He also revealed an unexpected detail about Swift's hospitality, sharing, "And she'll make you, like, a dinner, and like whip it up no problem. Like, homemade Pop-Tarts. Like warm, warm pop tarts." He humorously added, "I'm like, 'Did you just make these? How are these warm?'" noting her incredible baking skills.

Tatum, 44, further described Swift as "really kind of just normal and sweet." He also praised her stage presence, challenging, "I challenge any triathlete that's a champion to go and do what she's doing on stage." He admitted, "I was a fan fan afterwards."

Swift, 34, and her homemade Pop-Tarts have previously received high praise from her boyfriend, Travis Kelce. During a press conference back in June, a reporter asked Kelce about their favorite dishes to cook together, the 34-year-old playfully replied, "I respect that question, but I'm gonna keep that one to myself." Despite his coyness, Kelce did confirm Swift's culinary prowess, stating, "Taylor makes a great Pop-Tart and cinnamon roll."

The question likely stemmed from a video montage the "Getaway Car" singer shared to YouTube Shorts back in April, which was set to her lead single from The Tortured Poets Department, "Fortnight". The montage featured scenes from her Eras Tour rehearsal and included a sweet moment of the couple cooking together, with Kelce planting a kiss on her cheek.
