Pink's 2009 Criticism of Kanye West Resurfaces: 'Piece of S***'

Kanye West has been widely criticized in October for promoting "White Lives Matter" clothing, giving a wide-ranging interview with a right-wing pundit where he made harmful claims about abortion and the singer Lizzo's weight, and posting anti-semitic tweets that led to him being restricted on social media.

Amid all of this chaos, a tweet posted by singer Pink in 2009 surfaced, where the 43-year-old labeled Ye a "piece of s***." That was the year that West, 45, infamously interrupted Taylor Swift's MTV Video Music Awards acceptance speech, which sparked outrage at the time.

"Kanye west is the biggest piece of s*** on earth. Quote me," Pink's tweet reads, and several people have quoted it on the social-media platform over the weekend as West continues to make headlines for his "horrifying" comments.

"Thirteen years later, it's aged like the finest of wines. Love you @Pink," tweeted actor Josh Gad, 41.

Another Twitter user added: "Pink was right back then and is now even more correct."

"Pink told everyone about Kanye West a long time ago," reads another tweet.

One Twitter user wrote: "@Pink (Queen that she is) was right then, and continues to be right now. Kanye's discourse is offensive, dangerous and scary. Anti-semitism has no room in today's world. Neither does racism."

Pink—real name Alecia Beth Moore—is Jewish, and the singer posted about her heritage on Instagram in 2017: "It's incredible to watch neo-nazis march in 2017, while I, a Jewish woman, headline a show in Berlin where these tunnels were built by [Hitler], built curvy so he couldn't be shot in the back.

"I walked through this tunnel to get to the stage while people just like him marched in Charlottesville. My heart aches for the amount of hatred in this world." (via Distractify)

In a now-removed post, West published an alleged interaction with Sean "Diddy" Combs, 52, with the caption "Jesus is Jew," prompting Instagram to restrict his account.

West's comments regarding Jewish people have been described as "horrifying" by Liora Rez, executive director of the watchdog group StopAntisemitism.

Rez told Newsweek: "I think we can all agree he [Ye] has always been a provocateur, and he is struggling with mental-health issues [and] family issues, but once we saw his post, we actually commented right away, 'We strongly urge you to delete this.'"

Although West has been open about his prior mental-health struggles, Rez added that "this gives him zero excuses to spew baseless and confusing messages about Jews, specifically when antisemitism has been set ablaze across America.

"Furthermore, his language about influence taps into an age-old antisemitic myth and stereotype about Jewish control."

West also railed against the "godless" media during his Tucker Carlson interview on Fox News that aired last Thursday—rhetoric that some media scholars have classified as "dangerous."
