'The Mandalorian' Merchandise: First Baby Yoda Figures From Funko May Have Just Leaked

Update, December 4, 2019, 10:30 a.m.: Funko has officially revealed its "baby Yoda" figure, available in standard and 10 inch versions which they have revealed will be shipping in early Spring. The press release stated: "Inspired by the Disney+ live action series The Mandalorian, this adorable little alien is a perfect addition to your Pop! collection. Always at the forefront of pop culture, Funko is excited to announce the item will be available for shipment in early Spring with additional details to come."

Original article: The Mandalorian released its first Baby Yoda merchandise in November, but it left many fans underwhelmed, with some calling out the T-shirts, bags and mugs for looking rushed and uninspired. However, those fans could soon be getting a treat per these images allegedly showing Funko's take on the character known officially in the series as The Child.

On the Funko Pop Reddit page, a user posted an image of two products they said were "spotted in Target's system" showing Baby Yoda in his trademark coat. One Funko Baby Yoda is priced $8.99, while another is $29.99.

A post on GeekCulture.co revealed that one of the figures is the standard-sized Funko (about 4 inches high), while the other is the 10 inch-figure, a larger version of the same design.

So far, these so-called leaks have been not been confirmed by Funko, but they do seem to conform with the other Mandalorian figures the company have already released.

In September, the company revealed the first four designs for the range on their blog, featuring versions of Kuiil (voiced by Nick Nolte), IG-11 (Taika Waititi), Cara Dune (played by Gina Carano) and The Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) himself.

Like the Baby Yoda images, these all feature the round base featuring the Star Wars logo that is standard in Funko's Star Wars range.

The Baby Yoda figures are the first such products we have seen featuring the popular character. As previously reported by Newsweek, Hasbro has said they will not be offering Baby Yoda merchandise until 2020. So far, the only official merch featuring The Child is that offered on the official Disney shop, which features a number of products all featuring the same image, based on the initial concept art of the character.

This was unpopular with a number of Star Wars fans, who shared their frustrations online. For example, one tweeted: "So @disney just dropped baby yoda merch and all of it sucks. Shirts, tote bags and phone cases with stills from the show that we've already seen.. but NO plush dolls? Wow. Just wow."

However, this rumored Funko product will soon be joined by a number of other pieces of merch. A CNBC article, for example, featured two new T-shirt designs upcoming from company Fifth Sun. One of tees features the same image as the first set of merch, and the other of features screen grabs from the moment The Mandalorian first met The Child in his crib, with their two hands reaching out to meet each other.

The Mandalorian episodes air on Fridays on Disney+.
