Nicolle Saba, 25, first gets her daughter to agree not to ask for anything before going into the store, but it doesn't take long for things to escalate once the little girl has seen what's on offer on the shelves.

"My daughter loves going shopping [and] every time we go into any store, she never fails to ask for something that she sees," Saba told Newsweek.

"I usually let her pick one inexpensive item but sometimes, I feel like it's not necessary as I don't want her to grow up thinking she'll get everything she wants."

In the clip, Saba, from Los Angeles, calmly prepares her daughter for their imminent trip to the store and asks: "What are you not going to do?".

Seemingly understanding her mom's point, she says: "I am not going to say, 'I want something, I want something!'."

Cut to the next scene where Saba's daughter has ignored her mom's instructions and proceeds to have a classic toddler tantrum.

Saba's TikTok post garnered over 1 million views and thousands of comments from other parents who could relate to the all-too-common struggle of shopping with a toddler.

One TikTok user commented: "If it makes anyone feel any better, I'm a child therapist and my daughter does this too—they're all the same" and another called Saba's video "the most relatable parenting post ever."

In the clip, Saba's daughter can be heard tearfully saying "I want a snack" which prompted some TikTok users to criticize her for denying her daughter, but Saba explained that she simply told her that she needed to wait to calm down in order to have it.

"As a mom, you want to give the world to your children, but as they grow up, you realize that [by] doing so, you're actually setting them up for failure," Saba told Newsweek.

Speaking of the reaction to her video, Saba was "surprised" and "relieved" to discover that other parents could relate to the situation.

"I'm really hard on myself, and when my baby throws tantrums or misbehaves, I blame it on me and feel like it is a reflection [of] my parenting."

Reading the comments made Saba feel "less lonely" and reassured her that toddler tantrums are completely normal.

"You want to see the boy version of this? Too relatable. Us toddler moms are really going through it," one TikTok user joked.

"I read many comments saying 'I feel so seen' and toddlers are learning how to regulate their emotions and communicate, but it's our job as parents to reinforce our teachings so that they can grow up to be the best version of themselves," Saba told Newsweek.
