Newsweek Hosts Inspirational Event at One World Trade Center Featuring Kathleen Griffith and Robin Arzón

Newsweek hosted its first-ever BUILD event at One World Trade Center on June 4. The event featured Kathleen Griffith, founder of BUILD and author of Build Like A Woman, and Robin Arzón, VP of fitness programming and head instructor at Peloton and the founder of Swagger Society.

The event was modeled after Griffith's Builders Series, which highlights women striving to create successful businesses and lives featuring leaders across various industries, including entrepreneurs, corporate change agents, nonprofit leaders and celebrity founders. This live interview delved into both personal and professional journeys. Questions explored topics such as "What have you built?" "What inspired you to build it?" and "Who was the first woman you looked up to?"

Griffith and Arzón shared their insights on how a solid foundational mindset and actionable steps can transform career journeys and help women lead big lives. Arzón, whose drive comes from a place of healing and representation, said, "When I became an athlete, it was to represent who I didn't see. When I'm in rooms, it's recognizing that I have a thousand 'abuelas' behind me. We often create what we need in the world, and it is coming from a place of healing."

Griffith, also driven by a lack of representation in her industry, spoke about the challenges she faced in finding practical business tools and community when starting her company. She aims to make it easier for women to launch their businesses and architect the life of their dreams.

Event attendees included brand and agency leaders like Angela Johnson, EVP of global client leadership at Dentsu; Ayca Acun, senior creative director at Nike; and Kari Shimmel, CEO of Campbell Ewald.

The global platform BUILD features a method to help women break ground in business and break through in life, brand experiences and an interview series showcasing breakout builders like Jessica Alba, Eva Longoria, Arianna Huffington and more.
