Who Is Voicing Darth Vader in 'Obi-Wan Kenobi'?

The third episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi saw the welcome return of the Star Wars franchise's most iconic villain: Darth Vader.

Vader is given a dramatic entrance fit for the character before he meets with Moses Ingram's Reva to discuss finding Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor).

Fans are no doubt already aware that Hayden Christensen has returned to the role of Darth Vader, previously Anakin Skywalker.

The actor may return as the Sith Lord but he's not the only one to do so, because the character is voiced once again by James Earl Jones.

Jones first voiced the character in A New Hope, and his deep voice has made Darth Vader the menacing villain he is today; you can hardly imagine him without that familiar baritone.

This is not the first time that Jones has returned to the Star Wars franchise to voice his iconic character, as he also previously appeared in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and in the most recent film The Rise of Skywalker.

So, it makes sense then that Jones would return to voice Darth Vader in the Disney+ show, even if Christensen is reprising his character. Newsweek has contacted James Earl Jones.

Christensen has only been seen briefly onscreen in the show so far, once in the third episode when his suit is being put on and again later when Kenobi believes he is seeing his former Padawan from a distance.

It is currently unclear how much of Christensen fans will get to see in the TV show, but the actor is certainly glad to be returning.

During a press conference for the show, per IndieWire, the actor said: "This is a character that means so much to me, and to get to come back and do more with it was just a thrilling opportunity."

Reflecting on the character and whether he is consumed by power or feels trapped by his circumstances, Christensen told Entertainment Weekly: "It's definitely a combination of both of those.

"It's different, but also the same. We didn't want to deviate too much from what we already know.

"But also, this is a different time in his life, and he's very much consumed by all of his negative emotions. And all of that fuels his dark-side abilities. We're just going to have to watch and find out."

Christensen has also shared that he would be interested in being part of a spinoff project about the Sith Lord, telling ET Canada he'd "absolutely" be on board.

"I think this is a character that sort of resonates in our culture and in a very kind of profound way. And there's certainly more there to explore. There are so many other stories that have been told in these other mediums," Christensen said.
