Pat Sajak Mocks 'Wheel of Fortune' Contestant's Skill

Wheel of Fortune legend Pat Sajak was left speechless after a guest revealed their specialist skill, which took aim at his coveted role as show host.

Sajak has hosted the long-running show since 1981 and will be replaced at the end of this season by Ryan Seacrest.

Clips from a recent episode have started to circular online, with Sajak confused by one contestant's remarks about how he filled time.

In true Wheel of Fortune style, Sajak got to know the guests appearing on the episode and introduced them to the viewers in the studio and at home.

Speaking to hopeful contestant Joel during the episode on February 2, Sajak said: "People like to brag about their skills. I'm not sure I would brag about this one."

He added: "You're an expert at doing Simon Says."

The host looked at the guest stunned, as Joel replied: "You would not believe how often that comes in handy.

"You just get in a spot where somebody needs to fill space for a little bit of time."

Then, turning the tables on the host, Joel added: "You know something about that."

Sajak immediately looked stunned by the remark and glanced around in bewilderment, with the guest continuing on: "And then you just have to do something to be able to keep going, so..."

Laughter started to ripple through the studio audience as he answered, looking straight at the camera: "Simon Says, what did he mean by that?"

The audience erupted into hysterics by this point while the host broke out a smile and ended: "I got it, actually."

At the time this article was published, the video had over 11,600 views on YouTube, 8,700 on TikTok, and 19,000 on Facebook.

On Facebook, a show fan said: "Pat seems like he is enjoying and making the most of his final year. It is nice to watch."

Another added: "Joel was hilarious" and a third said: "Sooooo funny!!! Going to miss Pat."

Others commented on how "great" that episode was with many also pining over Sajak's departure from the show, even though he still has some time left on it.

This isn't the first time Sajak has got a bit sassy with a contestant.

Last month, he told winning contestant Angela to "shut up" jokingly as she was so excited to be on the show and to win and tackled wrestler and drama teacher Fred Fletcher-Jackson on the show when he won.

Newsweek has reached out to the publicist of ABC's Wheel of Fortune via email for comment.

Sajak told his followers last June that he would be stepping away from the show in a message: "I've decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last. It's been a wonderful ride, and I'll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all. (If nothing else, it'll keep the clickbait sites busy!)"
