NASCAR News: This Driver Could Replace Hailie Deegan At AM Racing

AM Racing and Hailie Deegan have officially parted ways after a challenging stint, ending a partnership that spanned 17 races. The split, announced earlier this week, concludes Deegan's tenure which saw her best finish of 12th at Talladega amidst just three top-20 finishes. In a departure from standard practice, AM Racing plans to employ a rotating lineup of drivers for the No. 15 Ford Mustang for the rest of the season, as I'd previously reported.

Josh Berry steps into the spotlight. Currently affiliated with Stewart-Haas Racing, Berry is scheduled to drive the No. 15 at forthcoming races. Known for his tenure in the Xfinity Series, Berry's adaptation to replace Deegan comes despite a winless last season. This hasn't dampened the praise from NASCAR stalwart Dale Earnhardt Jr, however. The Tennessee driver sees himself as an ideal fit for AM Racing's current empty seat, particularly at Pocono Raceway where Berry's results have varied dramatically, where he's finished as high as 3rd and as low as 24th in the past.

"Josh Berry is listed in the NASCAR roster portal as the driver of the AM Racing No. 15 car this weekend for the Xfinity Series race at Pocono," says Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports.

Berry's insertion into the team is seen as part of a broader tactical overhaul, as the outfit is eager to accrue valuable race data and ensure a smooth transition in the wake of Deegan's departure. This will mirror Berry's experience as he reacquaints himself with the dynamics of the Xfinity Series over the Cup Series which he has become used to.

Reflecting on her time with AM Racing, Hailie Deegan expressed nostalgia, stating,

"Beginning this season, I had a lot of excitement and hope in taking my next step in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. It's something I've been working towards for years and always dreamt about. I worked hard to prepare for this season after the team pursued me to drive their car. Unfortunately, it has not turned out the way that I expected. There are always several reasons within a race team as to why things do or do not work, but sadly our goals no longer align. With that being said, myself and AM Racing will be parting ways.

"The only thing I am focused on is getting back to being competitive. That is ALL that matters to me. I'm working as quick as possible to find the best opportunities to get back to the track.

"I'm thankful for the following that I have and everyone who supports me, it's truly only me that knows the whole story and what I need to succeed.

"See you at the track, soon."
