Lions' Amon-Ra St. Brown Slams Cowboys DB, Who Responds

Rivalries can be created in the NFL between teams who share the same division, teams that have bested one another, and players who play on opposite ends of the line of scrimmage. Now, a rivalry appears to have emerged by Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and Dallas Cowboys defensive back Jourdan Lewis.

St. Brown joined "The Pivot Podcast," where he was asked if there is a particular defensive back that he has any issues with. The Lions' receiver immediately named Lewis, and revealed the Cowboys' cornerback had been talking at him the last time the teams met in the 2023 NFL Playoffs:

According to St. Brown, "He was talking crazy out of pocket. Even [Lions wideout Jameson Williams] heard it, too. He was coming in. At that point, it's like, I don't know what he's saying. I'm trying to make plays, win the game. I'm not worried about him. But once he starts talking like that, it's like, all right, if I do get a chance to kill him, I'ma kill him."

St. Brown reveals that he is a tough blocker and would have likely used a chance to try and get Lewis to the ground in a block situation. The playoffs can be a tense time for any team, and players on opposite ends of the ball often talk at each other to initiate an emotional response. As much as tackling is part of a defensive player's strategy, so is getting inside the head of someone you are lining up with.

There is no telling what was said to St. Brown from Lewis, but Lewis has caught wind of the podcast video, offering his own response.

Lewis responded with an Instagram story that states, "I am passionate about my craft and I don't want to be friends with everyone, especially a Detroit Lion not from Detroit."

He also captioned the highlighted video of St. Brown's remarks with a caption that reads, "It's only for y'all fr."

Lewis might be alluding to the Lions becoming a bit of an NFC rival for the Cowboys. The teams last met during Week 17 of the 2023 NFL season, which resulted in a 20-19 win for the Cowboys. The win was even more substantial, as it kept the Lions from securing the top seed in the NFC.

The Lions and Cowboys will also meet in 2024 during Week 6, which might carry some more excitement considering the words that have now been exchanged by St. Brown and Lewis. That, and it will also be a revenge game for the Lions, considering they lost the top seed in the playoffs to the Cowboys playing spoiler.
