Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Sequel Rumored as Game Dev Respawn Advertises Jobs on Star Wars Team

A new Star Wars video game is rumored to be in development as the developer behind Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has advertised for three new roles. Respawn Entertainment is advertising for a Senior Character Artist, Level Designer, and a Senior Software Engineer to join its Star Wars team.

The job postings don't confirm that the new Star Wars game will be a sequel. But a follow up to Jedi: Fallen Order may be likely, as Charlie Houser, Respawn's Brand Strategy Director, told Games Radar that they would be interested in developing a sequel: "We've had an absolute blast [making Fallen Order]. For a new team, that's come together at Respawn, it's been a lot of learning to pull this off.

"Pending player reaction and feedback, and how everyone's feeling about it, we would love to continue making awesome experiences and stories and keep telling that story in Star Wars."

Daniel Ahmad, senior analyst at Niko Partners, has suggested a new Star Wars may be released before April 2022, according to an Electronic Arts pipeline.

Ahmad tweeted: "New Star Wars title in development that should drop prior to [the] end of FY 2022."

However, Ahmad responded to his tweet stating: "I should note that the above was given somewhat off-hand. So I wouldn't put too much stock into the specificity of them. But that seems to be the years being guided towards."

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was a success, as game publisher Electronic Arts, Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm announced that the video game was "the fastest-selling digital launch for a Star Wars game in its first two weeks." The game is also EA's top-selling Star Wars title on PC in its initial launch window.

Vince Zampella, Head of Respawn, said in a statement: "On behalf of Respawn and EA, we thank everyone for their support of the studio and the team throughout the development and launch of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

"Telling a story in the Star Wars galaxy is a dream come true and the reception from the fans has been incredible. With the launch of the game, the debut of The Mandalorian and the upcoming release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, it's a great time to be a Star Wars fan!"

In Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, gamers play as Cal Kestis, a former Padawan hiding in plain sight after The Emperor executed Order 66 and wiped out the Jedi. Cal goes on the run with Cere Junda, Greez, and BD-1 and explores planets like Kashyyyk and Zeffo, while trying to escape the Inquisition's Second Sister and unraveling a mystery that could rebuild the Jedi Order.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was released on November 15, 2019, and is available to play on PS4, Xbox One and PC via Origin, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. It is now on sale at Walmart for $39.99, down from $59.99, on both PS4 and Xbox One.
