Natasha Rao is the author of Latitude (September 2021), selected by Ada Limón as winner of the 2021 American Poetry Review/Honickman First Book Prize. Her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in the Nation, American Poetry Review, Yale Review, Poetry Northwest, Narrative, Rattle, and elsewhere. In 2021, Rao received a Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Fellowship from the Poetry Foundation.

Rao earned a BA from Brown University and an MFA from New York University. She has received fellowships from the Vermont Studio Center, the Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing, the Miami Book Fair, and New York University.

Rao was Adroit Journal’s Gregory Djanikian Scholar in 2021, and received a Norton Island Residency from the Eastern Frontier Educational Foundation. She also attended Bread Loaf Environmental Writers’ Conference with a Katharine Bakeless Nason Scholarship. She lives in Brooklyn.
