Cuckoo (2024) Adam Olinger This is another one of those Stanley Kubrick inspired films that has great cinematography and a vintage feel. I really dug the setting, characters and bits of humor sprinkled throughout. It may be too vague for some but this one landed well for me!

Trap (2024) Adam Olinger The film's greatest Trap is convincing people this is actually a movie. In fact, it's nothing more than a large audition tape for M. Night's daughter and not a good one.

Young Lion of the West (2024) Adam Olinger It's refreshing to watch a film with a unique voice again. Young Lion of the West is a gritty, emotional drama, that pushes outside the comfort zone at times. While the low budget can be felt in spots; the acting, pacing, and emotional beats never miss.

Twisters (2024) Adam Olinger If you liked 1996's Twister, you're going to enjoy 2024's Twisters. Because they are the same movie.

Deadpool & Wolverine (2024) Adam Olinger I was so excited to see Deadpool & Wolverine, I made sure to wear my white pants. I was not disappointed!
Posted Jul 30, 2024
Kill (2023) Adam Olinger Kill absolutely delivers the action but also gets in its own way with the melodrama. Not a bad flick, all the same.
Posted Jul 12, 2024
Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F (2024) Adam Olinger Can we please be done with the legacy hero coming back for 1 last ride schtick? Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F is another one of those Netflix movies you put on and forget about 1/2 way through. Not awful but Foley deserved to retire.

Inside Out 2 (2024) Adam Olinger Inside Out 2 shows that Disney hasn't completely fallen off. Even though sequels and remakes seem to be the focus, I'm glad this property has been treated with respect and care. What a delight to watch with my kids.

MaXXXine (2024) Adam Olinger The production on this trilogy has been terrific. Maxxxine feels much more aligned with X than Pearl did and I think overall, Maxxxine is a success. The final act is definitely going to turn some off, though.

Despicable Me 4 (2024) Adam Olinger A fresh or rotten review for a Despicable Me movie is essentially pointless. Families will go, regardless. It will get the job done for kids with an ADD approach to storytelling, fused with a manic amount of noise and visuals. It's exhausting.

Longlegs (2024) Adam Olinger This is 2024's Barbarian. Another movie being overly praised by fellow critics while I just sit here, scratching my head at its appeal.
Posted Jul 12, 2024
Sting (2024) Adam Olinger "Sting" might be the worst title you could ever call a horror film about a giant spider. Thankfully, that's the worst part of this otherwise great little flick.
Posted Mar 29, 2024
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024) Adam Olinger This might be one of the dumbest movies I have ever seen, and yet, I can't help but find myself enjoying the heck out of it. GxK delivers a ton of action, spectacle and a whole lot of blockbuster moments. Audiences should get what they pay for with this.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024) Adam Olinger Bustin' makes me feel nothing.
Posted Mar 27, 2024
Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey II (2024) Adam Olinger Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 is a noticeable improvement over the last film (although I don't know how you get worse). Still a bad movie. Just not AS bad.

This Is Me... Now: A Love Story (2024) Adam Olinger I don't know what I just watched but I know I hated it.
Posted Mar 04, 2024
Dune: Part Two (2024) Adam Olinger If Dune: Part 1 didn't make you a believer; Part 2 just might.
Posted Mar 01, 2024
Ordinary Angels (2024) Adam Olinger You have probably seen a movie (or 50) just like Ordinary Angels and that's okay. When something works; it works. This is another tear-jerker with solid performances, a tight script, good messages and polished direction. Take your grandma. She'll love it!
Posted Feb 26, 2024
Drive-Away Dolls (2024) Adam Olinger I would rather watch Madame Web again.
Posted Feb 26, 2024
Madame Web (2024) Adam Olinger Madame Web is now the worst movie Dakota Johnson has starred in. That might not seem like much of a statement, until you remember she was in three 50 Shades movies.
Posted Feb 15, 2024
Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire (2023) Adam Olinger If you can forgive the clunky prelude (that goes far too long), you will find yourself immersed in a rich new world that sets the stage for what will surely be an explosive part 2. Ceasefire does enough right to be excited for the sequel.
Posted Dec 28, 2023
Migration (2023) Adam Olinger Parents and kids don't always need to be challenged when watching an animated film. Migration acknowledges this with a very straight-forward, well-executed movie. It's not going to be a big winner for Illumination but at least it's not Minions 25.
Posted Dec 26, 2023
Saltburn (2023) Adam Olinger Saltburn is not near as clever as it thinks and the shocking moments seem to only exist merely to get people talking. The awkward characters, witty dialogue, interesting setting and slick production; are more than enough to keep viewers engaged.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023) Adam Olinger Aquaman 2 will appeal to a younger crowd and those just looking for a fun action flick. No one should be going into this with the assumption it's high-art.

The Iron Claw (2023) Adam Olinger The Iron Claw accomplished something almost no other film did this year. It made me feel something. A beautifully tragic story that takes pause when it needs to but doesn't ever fall into the A24 "artsy" trappings. One of my favorites this year!
Posted Dec 24, 2023
Rebel Moon: Part One - A Child of Fire (2023) Adam Olinger There isn't enough slow-motion in the world to make up for the copy/paste narrative, lame characters, awful pacing and miserable final act. What a waste of time.
Posted Dec 24, 2023
The Boys in the Boat (2023) Adam Olinger I think Hollywood has mostly moved past these inspirational, cookie-cutter sports stories but thankfully Clooney hasn't. I guess I'm old-fashioned but a good training montage will always win me over.
Posted Dec 15, 2023
Wonka (2023) Adam Olinger Well this was a pleasant surprise! A family flick with a wonderful performance by Timothée Chalamet, who has enough charm to sustain the 2-hour runtime.
Posted Dec 15, 2023
Leave the World Behind (2023) Adam Olinger I find it ironic that Leave The World Behind is split into 4 Acts when the entire movie never gets past the opening. This is an absolute chore to site through with zero payoff at the end.

The Boy and the Heron (2023) Adam Olinger Everything that makes a Studio Ghibli film great is here. An amazing score, beautiful visuals, and wonderful animation. The story, however, is unfocused, drawn out and lacking the emotional impact that makes these movies shine.
Posted Dec 07, 2023
Godzilla Minus One (2023) Adam Olinger The superior visuals and sound are at odds with the terribly paced story and downright boring characters. It all just feels so underwhelming.
Posted Nov 30, 2023
American Fiction (2023) Adam Olinger I appreciated the massive amount of cynicism this movie carried but at some point it needed to have the confidence to finish its own narrative properly. Still an interesting watch; I just wish it landed better.
Posted Nov 28, 2023
Napoleon (2023) Adam Olinger Napoleon is an interesting film. Not because of the story or characters but more the fact that I enjoyed this overlong, historically questionable tale. It's worth, at the very least, a stream down the road.
Posted Nov 24, 2023
Wish (2023) Adam Olinger Wish might just be the most generic movie I've ever seen.
Posted Nov 23, 2023
Thanksgiving (2023) Adam Olinger There were a lot of ways this Thanksgiving meal could have been ruined. Thankfully, it was not. In fact, I enjoyed it so much, I want to go back for seconds!
Posted Nov 20, 2023
The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes (2023) Adam Olinger As far as pointless prequels go, this one kept me interested without pandering to the previous entries in the series. Not amazing but definitely a solid 1-time watch.
Posted Nov 19, 2023
The Marvels (2023) Adam Olinger The Marvels felt way more like a 90s movie than Captain Marvel; which was set in the 90s. I had fun with this silly film and families should too.
Posted Nov 10, 2023
Killers of the Flower Moon (2023) Adam Olinger Ever at it's 19 hour runtime, Killers of the Flower Moon stays consistently great!
Posted Oct 28, 2023
Five Nights at Freddy's (2023) Adam Olinger Not fun enough. Not scary enough. It just exists.
Posted Oct 28, 2023
Saw X (2023) Adam Olinger It's pretty wild that SAW X is one of the first films in the series that got it right for me. The plot points are still pretty stupid and the traps are implausibly manufactured but Tobin Bell getting the spotlight really classes this thing up.
Posted Oct 02, 2023
The Creator (2023) Adam Olinger The Creator has all the ingredients to make a really great sci-fi film and honestly, it almost gets there. It has more than enough going for it to definitely recommend but I have a feeling many will pass this by.

You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah (2023) Adam Olinger I'm absolutely floored by the Tomatometer on this! Over 90% fresh? Are you kidding me? You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah is one of the least funny movies I've ever watched. This has a better score than Austin Powers, Dumb & Dumber & Zoolander. Sad.

Heart of Stone (2023) Adam Olinger Heart of Stone is a great movie for your dad to fall asleep watching; not for much else though.
Posted Aug 12, 2023
The Last Voyage of the Demeter (2023) Adam Olinger A formulaic yet effective take on the horror icon, Dracula. The Last Voyage of the Demeter nails the atmosphere, the creature design and the crew of this ship. An easy watch with potential for more in the future!
Posted Aug 12, 2023
Meg 2: The Trench (2023) Adam Olinger It's almost impressive how lame these Meg movies are. You have some of the coolest creatures ever, big budgets, Jason Statham; yet the films are still so boring to sit through. Remarkable stuff.
Posted Aug 05, 2023
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023) Adam Olinger The heroes in a half-shell are back baaaabbyyyy! These turtles sound great, they look great and they still love great pizza. Well, maybe not, because it's always Pizza Hut but still, the movie is pure, uncut, turtle power!

Talk to Me (2023) Adam Olinger Talk To Me is an easy film to give a "Fresh" score to. I was pretty on-edge through most of it and the 90 minute runtime kept it from losing it's intense pace. I still think it should have been called "Talk To The Hand" but whatever.
Posted Jul 28, 2023
Barbie (2023) Adam Olinger I have never struggled so much with a "fresh" or "rotten" score. Ultimately, I'm settling on the positive side. Even though Barbie is too long and chalk-full of cringy monologues; the fun cast, wonderful musical numbers and great visuals make up for it.
Posted Jul 22, 2023
Oppenheimer (2023) Adam Olinger Unsurprisingly, it's brilliant.
Posted Jul 22, 2023
Sound of Freedom (2023) Adam Olinger The movie has good intentions and the topic is heart-breaking but the film unfortunately can't keep up with the engaging 1st act. A great movie was in there somewhere but the script and sluggish pacing had me eager for the credits.
