Critics Consensus

Thought not without its funny moments, Anger Management is ultimately stale and disappointingly one-note, especially considering its capable cast.

Namrata Joshi Outlook Anger Management is the kind of film that you could safely catch much later on television. If you have nothing better to watch. Rated: 1/4 Jan 4, 2019 Full Review Alexander Walker London Evening Standard Audiences are still looking at the stars, but nowadays they often do it from the gutter of films like Anger Management. Jan 10, 2018 Full Review Barbara Ellen Times (UK) What is fundamentally wrong with Anger Management is that, try as they might, the two stars have absolutely no comedic or dramatic chemistry together, and so eventually the audience gets slightly bored with them. Jan 3, 2018 Full Review Leigh Paatsch Herald Sun (Australia) There are moments when the laughs come thick and fast, but just as many where the dream team just aren't connecting at all. Aender S Very nice comedy with a main subject I guess most people can identify with. Jack Nicholson is great as always and Marisa Tomei cute but you rarely see Adam Sandler that restrained. The film's a good laugh. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/02/24 Full Review Audience Member We all could use a little anger management in our lives Adam Sandler, Jack Nicholson, Marisa Tomei, Luis Guzman, John Tuturro, Woody Harrelson, Krista Allen, and an upcoming January Jones directed by Peter Segal A comedy about getting past the many frustrations Dave Buznick has a lot of insecurities and things that are bothering him from being completely complacent He has a demanding job, a beautiful girlfriend Linda he hasn't proposed to, and some issues he has yet to work out internally After he's declared rageful on a plane he's sentenced to go under anger management therapy by famous author Buddy Rydell Clearly it'll be an adjustment for Dave seeing how kooky Buddy's methods are to get his anger under control whether in group session or in public Temper is the one thing you can't get rid of by losing it Definitely found myself laughing at the silly writing and much of the visual gags It doesn't make much sense but the occasional belly laugh is the best medicine A first-rate cast and a decent story make this comedy more enjoyable than it needs to be Nicholson and Sandler make a lovable comedic duo Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/12/24 Full Review James A One of Adam Sandler's better films. For the most part, he's the normal guy here and Jack Nicholson's the crazy one....it works. Also, this is one comedy that doesn't lose its way late in the game. I totally buy into the surprise at the end (no spoilers). Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/11/24 Full Review Liam B Anger Management is overall a fun movie. Nicholson and Sandler are great together, each brings their own charm to the table. A lot of good situational humor, the inherent absurdity of the concept makes for some fun situations too. It's just a little tough to embrace the fact that Adam Sandler's character passed anger management after beating up a monk and then attacking his teacher. I can look passed the concept of the film to enjoy it, but everything going all fine and dandy after he assaults two people and trespasses on a field was just too much disbelief to suspend. I finished the movie overall happy, but left with a bit of a sour taste. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/27/24 Full Review Gigsy V Just a genuinely funny movie; not pretentious in the slightest and Jack Nicholson is f**king brilliant. So many quotable moments and never ceases to make me feel good which, I think, is all that you want from a comedy. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/09/24 Full Review Ahmad M The uncivil representation of psychological abuse that oddly comes off as a nice journey of healing and growth, with delightful scenes that produce a good laugh. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/01/23 Full Review Read all reviews
