There is only one person to root for, but he's got Alzheimer's (not a spoil, you'll find out right away) and the vibe is grim. A sad little tale. Children have the right to come into this world wanted by both parents. A baby unwanted by one parent that was foisted upon an unwilling partner doesn't make for a happy family.
