Wendy Ide Times (UK) Much of the film’s appeal stems from the sizzling energy and sharp dialogue, a lot of which was improvised on the spot by Murphy. Nov 20, 2023 Full Review Kirk Ellis Hollywood Reporter This lickety-split action comedy is distinguished by the wry, character-conscious direction of Martin Brest, who coaxes a silver-bullet performance from star Eddie Murphy that's practically criminal in its accuracy. Dec 5, 2016 Full Review Chris Nashawaty Entertainment Weekly Rated: B May 12, 2011 Full Review Cory Woodroof For the Win (USA Today) Murphy used a pretty well-worn format for its time as his launchpad for superstardom, also delivering one of his great performances in the process. Jul 8, 2024 Full Review Yasser Medina Cinefilia Despite the charisma injected by Eddie Murphy as the cunning and talkative cop, I find it to be an action comedy that becomes boring and dissolves its police plot into a succession of predictable clichés. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 5/10 Jul 8, 2024 Full Review Casey Chong Casey's Movie Mania Murphy uses the fish-out-of-water concept to his advantage. This gives him ample room to strike an amusing contrast between his fast-talking personality and John Ashton and Judge Reinhold, who play them straight as by-the-book cops from Beverly Hills. G M "Beverly Hills Cop" is a quintessential action-comedy that defined the genre in the 80s, with Eddie Murphy delivering a stellar performance as the quick-witted and rebellious Axel Foley. The film masterfully blends humor with classic 80s action, creating a grounded world where every punchline and gunshot hits with precision. The storyline is tightly executed, keeping viewers engaged as Foley navigates the posh streets of Beverly Hills to unravel the mystery behind his friend's murder. With a memorable supporting cast and a soundtrack that still resonates, "Beverly Hills Cop" remains a timeless piece of cinematic entertainment. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/08/24 Full Review Wyatt E A truly classic 80s cop comedy with great jokes and great action Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/07/24 Full Review Audience Member This is comedy action crime cop movie is really good and ageless and this is movie introduced me to Eddie Murphy and reason it does age cause still has those jokes, nice to see how it was in the ‘80s and can u see why he was perfect flawed character and crazy laugh that he best know for and wish heard on the 4th one but still you can see why the three click and why this movie so good with the music, the clothes and action scenes and you can see that in those days was pretty interesting and very cool in there own way. One last thing you can tell why this movie set up lot of cops movies now with there plot and writing and originality from this and that compare to others it doesn’t come close but at least they try. All in all definitely recommend and give a A+👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/06/24 Full Review Madie R Classic Eddie Murphy! A great blend of action and comedy. "You know, this is the cleanest and nicest police car I've ever been in in my life. This thing's nicer than my apartment." Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/05/24 Full Review Read all reviews
