Peter Rainer FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) It does gets a little bit ragged in the last third... But up until that point, it's a pretty good, taut thriller. May 10, 2022 Full Review Claudia Puig FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) It takes its time to reveal its secrets, but it's well-paced and involving. May 10, 2022 Full Review Peter Debruge Variety Buckle up. “Black Box” is the kind of smart, taut conspiracy thriller Hollywood used to consistently make... May 6, 2022 Full Review Monica Reid Far Out Magazine The latest feature by French director and scriptwriter Yann Gozlan is a complex thriller constructed around a well-developed version of a popular archetype: the likeable nerd. Rated: 3.5/5 Dec 9, 2022 Full Review Robin Clifford Reeling Reviews For me, this is a fascinating look into a crash investigation and all of the hard work it entails. That we are also presented with a good mystery, too, is a big plus. Rated: B Sep 28, 2022 Full Review Laura Clifford Reeling Reviews an aurally based conspiracy thriller akin to Brian De Palma’s “Blow Out.” Given the recent Boeing 737 scandal, its subject is timely and it fills a niche, making it ripe for an American remake. Gerry M Well worth a watch during these plane crash times & the stories concocted to stand in for truth Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/24/24 Full Review Dave This superb conspiracy thriller gets just about everything right, and manages to be plausible, which makes it even more exciting. I'm tempted to give it 5 stars but I should leave myself somewhere to go. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/02/24 Full Review Kevin L Solid little conspiracy thriller procedural. Going after the aircraft industry here, and their nasty nasties. Writer/director Yann Gozlan and his co-writers work the formula well, but there's key bits that make it better than just some rote thriller about a guy with a conscience. The techincal aspects in the science behind the investigation kept me pretty locked in. Seemed authentic enough. And the lead character of Matthieu walks that line well between the overt tech/IT Crowd guy and overly diligent crime investigator. But much of that is due to the fine job done by Pierre Niney in the lead. I liked how Matthieu was stronger, assertive than that character typically is in movies. Also good are Laâge and Pouderoux as the love interest w/ a conflict of interests, and the slimey CEO type. I liked the revenge aspect here; esp. the who and where it went down. 3.2 stars Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/02/24 Full Review Miguel p No início não anda para a frente mas quando começam a por o protagonista a investigar e os plot twist melhoraram bastante o filme grande filme Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/12/24 Full Review Eugen S ein film über einen guten verrückten und einen bösen kapitalisten. idea - nicht schlecht, umsetzung - grauenhaft. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 06/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Brilliant. Fresh plot with a lot of satisfying twists. Great performance by the actors.
