Critics Consensus

Cars 3 has an unexpectedly poignant story to go with its dazzling animation, suggesting Pixar's most middle-of-the-road franchise may have a surprising amount of tread left.

Kristen Lopez Culturess Cars 3 is a decent reconstituted Rocky with a bizarre faux feminist subplot and beautiful animation. Nov 20, 2017 Full Review Tara Brady Irish Times Cars 3, which picks up where the first, perfectly adequate, film left off, is by far the best instalment in the series. Rated: 3/5 Aug 11, 2017 Full Review Simran Hans Observer (UK) It's a colourful, spry enough ride, but it doesn't exactly reinvent the wheel. Rated: 2/5 Jul 16, 2017 Full Review Fletcher Powell KMUW - Wichita Public Radio Cars 3 is every sports movie you’ve ever seen. May 12, 2023 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Cars 3 has a well-worn, delivers-what's-expected quality that lacks vitality. Rated: 2.5/4 Mar 23, 2022 Full Review Cory Woodroof Curnblog The Cars films are the Arnold Palmer of the Pixar universe there is nothing overtly clever, revolutionary or daring about mixing sweet tea and lemonade, but the beverage goes down like a song as long as you dont mess up the batch. Dale R Pressure to win is put on Lightning McQueen as faster rookies enter the racing field. This film is a little slow off the starting line, but as the film went on I found that I had a smile on my face for most of the second half. The suspension of disbelief is not as high in this film as in the second in the franchise. The growth of McQueen as a character through the films (at least the first one and this film) is deeply appreciated. Pixar ups their game in animation for this film. The lighting, particle effects and water are all more realistic. Larry the Cable Guy is better utilized in this film, in fact I could have used more of him as Mater. It was also nice to hear Paul Newman’s voice from unused recordings from the first movie. I think this movie is worth your time. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/07/24 Full Review Jack N Not bad, but does not live up to the previous two. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/23/24 Full Review Chael B Wow! This is awful! (Better than Cars 2, though) Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 06/16/24 Full Review João Victor u É triste ver a carreira do McQueen acabando. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/04/24 Full Review Jayden W it was a good movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/01/24 Full Review Aidan B Conclusion could've been handled a lot better, though I think that "Cars 3" is an enjoyable but overall forgettable watch. Definitely elements in there that I really enjoyed though and the premise of the film sounds far better than what is actually delivered. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/25/24 Full Review Read all reviews
