Catherine Bray Guardian Chalk it up to an insufficiently distinctive screenplay and underwhelming plot, but for Travolta, Cash Out feels more like a mercenary case of cashing in. Rated: 2/5 Jul 5, 2024 Full Review Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com Cash Out is a paint-by-numbers action-thriller that even with a few intriguing ideas is sadly so anemically paced and rudimentarily plotted it runs out of steam before it has the chance to pick up even a modicum of speed. Rated: 1.5/4 Apr 30, 2024 Full Review Richard Roeper Chicago Sun-Times At 70, Travolta still exudes a certain movie-star twinkle in the heist thriller, which plays like a solid, B-movie riff on The Thomas Crown Affair. Rated: 3/4 Apr 27, 2024 Full Review Jayne Nelson Radio Times Director Randall Emmett pulls off some pleasing visual slickness, but he also overuses zippy, high-speed drone shots, which start to distract from the action. Audience Member Don't know why everyone's hating on this one. It's not great, but it's entertaining, keeps you guessing. A little weak on the early action plot, but the rest was pretty decent, creative storyline, though not real suspenseful. Typical Travolta being a calm cool criminal. Low budget, but good production values. They really missed an opportunity for it to have better writing and action at the start, faster pace and more suspense. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/18/24 Full Review Bacon N I like to read the reviews before I watch a movie. In this case they were quite negative, so much so that had Travolta not been the star, I wouldn't have bothered. Thus it was a tremendous surprise when it turned out to be pretty good. In fact, going back over the negative reviews I can’t understand what grounded those opinions. As I expected, Travolta played his role excellently, and everything about the shooting was well done. It is a heist story but one presented from a variety of unexpected angles. Mason Goddard, Travolta’s character is a big time criminal operator who after a failed attempt in which he was set up by a supposed lady friend who was actually an FBI agent, had decided to retire. He becomes unwillingly engaged in his brother’s inept attempt at a huge heist, which Mason attempts to thwart for a number of very good reasons. Things don’t go as Mason plans and the heist is unavoidably on. Mason ends up trapped in a bank with his brother, a crew and 20 some odd captives. Coincidentally the lady friend that got him in trouble in the first scenes, becomes the agent on this case, yes, a love story. The intended heist turns out to be a set up, but in a twisted turn of events a certain disaster becomes a magnificent success. The movie is rather unusual for a heist/action film in that there’s no violence, no killings, very thoughtfully done. The bad guys are all good guys/gals and genuine concern is shown for the well-being of everyone involved. A marvelous success for the bad guys and an entirely pleasant entertainment experience for me. Highly recommended! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/26/24 Full Review Jerod S Travolta is a bad guy with a serious thing for the FBI chick that busted him. His brother botches a bank heist and Travolta comes out of hiding. It's weak in terms of new ideas or action. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 06/24/24 Full Review Sandi T Travolta still has his charm and the chemistry with Kristen is there ! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/18/24 Full Review Tyerell P THIS MOVIE WAS A WASTE OF FREAKING MONEY. I WANTED TO WATCH THIS WITH MY GIRL THINKING IT WOULD AT LEAST BE DECENT BUT NO, NOTHING SATISFYING ABOUT WATCHING WHATSOEVER. THE SCENES ARE SO BORING, A BUNCH OF BUILD UP ALL THE WAY TO THE END WITH NOTHING TO SHOW FOR IT. IM MAD I SPENT $6.99 TO RENT THIS GARBAGE. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/08/24 Full Review Vanessa S It was your basic bank heist movie. Scenes were drawn out. It just missed the mark.
