What to Know

Critics Consensus

Con Air won't win any awards for believability - and all involved seem cheerfully aware of it, making some of this blockbuster action outing's biggest flaws fairly easy to forgive.

David Ansen Newsweek The saving grace of Con Air is its sense of its own absurdity. Rosenberg and director Simon West seem to know just how preposterous their story is. Feb 28, 2018 Full Review Carol Buckland CNN.com It's exhausting rather than exhilarating. Jan 5, 2018 Full Review Duane Byrge Hollywood Reporter Packed high with explosive action and loaded with high-stakes jeopardy, Con Air charts a generally sound narrative course, although it hits some story turbulence before it hits its climactic jackpot. Jun 6, 2017 Full Review James Croot Stuff.co.nz Writer Scott Rosenberg throws in plenty of conundrums, curveballs and extra characters... Rated: 3.5/5 Nov 7, 2022 Full Review Rob Gonsalves Rob's Movie Vault The bunny is a good indication that the script, by Scott Rosenberg, was intended as a deadpan goof on stupid action flicks. Rated: C Sep 1, 2022 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies “Con Air” never takes itself too seriously. It knows how preposterous it is and doesn’t try to be anything other than wild raucous popcorn entertainment. And sometimes that’s all I’m in the mood for. Me D Amazingly spectacular! From start to finish, Nic Cage is killing it, the characters are lovable(even knockoff Hannibal Lector), and the action is fire start to finish. All the jokes are great too, and this is the one thing that makes me miss John Cusak… Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/04/24 Full Review Davin H It’s ridiculous and absolutely rules. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/03/24 Full Review M R This was Nick Cage at his best and one of the greatest action films of the 90's. It should be viewed as a classic by now. The stunts and action sequences are great. High quality effects like you expect in a Michael Bay movie, explosives everywhere! John Malkovich and Steve Buscemi are excellent in their roles. It is an overall great popcorn flick. Rating: 8.5/10 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/05/24 Full Review Joe M A awesome action movie you can rewatch Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/19/24 Full Review Alex L Over the top action flick up for a good time Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/14/24 Full Review Tomas B Great cast, peak Nic Cage with enough camp and action you can enjoy it sunday afternoon Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/05/24 Full Review Read all reviews
