Nick H It looked cool, but I just couldn't figure out what the heck the story was. A bunch of plot points seemed very important to the way that people were acting, however none of them were fleshed out. Also, the Michael character sucked ass. It looked like he was trying to win some kind of award with his performance, but it didn't really cut the mustard. The character of Michael was somewhat captivating at certain times and I definitely didn't envy the doctor trying to get inside Michael's mind and untangle the mess of what happened to Dr. Laurence. It reminded me, ever so slightly, of an episode of the British dark comedy show 'Inside No. 9'. There is a definite blue tinge to the lighting in this film, which I feel is to do with emphasising that the events that are depicted take part within a psychiatric hospital or facility. I also noticed the presence of tinsel and Christmas trees in some rooms, which gives it a strange contrast - the cold looking walls, the knowledge its set in a psychiatric facility, yet during a time in which people are meant to be together with friends and families, safe and well. The incidental music played in the background of some scenes is also somewhat chilling and didn't feel too over-done or forced. Unsurprisingly, yes, I would recommend this film to others, although it did leave me with one or two unanswered questions. However, as much as that stress is built up during the performance, when the pressure is finally released with the big reveal, the disappointment at the mundane nature of the disclosure is equally palpable and frustrating. Its true that people with mental health issues "play" those of us who sincerely wish to help them. That said, the relationship between Dr. Greene, Olivia and Amy was utterly extraneous and confusing. He tells Amy, while Olivia is cooking, that her "aunt Olivia makes the best fried eggs in the whole world." Is Amy his then? Is Olivia her Aunt? Her mother? Later, he tells Michael that Amy is his niece. If Olivia is his new wife, Amy is older than the three years since he was with Susan Peterson. Also, Olivia wears a ring on her right hand, not her left. Is this a Canadian thing like in Europe, or is she not married? If Olivia is his sister, how could his ex-wife Susan not know her?
