What to Know

Critics Consensus

Extinction has a few intriguing ideas, but they -- and some game performances from its talented stars -- are lost in the movie's muddled plot and frustrating pacing.

Martin Tsai Los Angeles Times "The Walking Dead" must really be leaving its mark on the entire zombie subgenre. Jul 30, 2015 Full Review Devan Coggan Entertainment Weekly Vivas tries to add a family-drama twist to an otherwise standard survival story, but the characters aren't complex enough (and the secrets aren't explosive enough) to elevate this beyond a basic zombie flick. Rated: C Jul 30, 2015 Full Review Katherine Pushkar New York Daily News The film's core problems: too little zombie and too much plot. Rated: 2/5 Jul 29, 2015 Full Review Mikel Zorrilla Espinof On paper it sounds quite good and... I had high expectations for it, something that surely has influenced how it ended up being such a huge disappointment. [Full Review in Spanish] Apr 22, 2020 Full Review Molly Henery The Blogging Banshee They tried to create something with a deeper story focusing on the survivors, while also updating the zombies into something more terrifying. Unfortunately, it just fell a bit flat. Rated: 5/10 Nov 2, 2018 Full Review Deirdre Crimmins Film Thrills Extinction has an interesting spin on the zombies themselves and does a good job of featuring two very different ways to live out the zombie apocalypse, but ultimately adds little life to the subgenre. Larry L Extinction is a good movie with a lot of good scenes. It reminds me of The Walking Dead and other movies that come after they had the original ideas. Plus there's an intriguing story behind it not just kill kill kill. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/05/24 Full Review Elisabet A Good acting and dynamic Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/27/24 Full Review Epic-Ace-Studios Good acting and dynamic is really good between characters full of twists derves sequel Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/13/24 Full Review Tina K Fast zombies. Dramatic. Some of the characters behave in a way that doesn't make sense, e.g., when there is imminent danger of zombies, then why leave the door fully opened when it could be closed or partially closed. it's fine. It has unusual looking undead. It has long stretches of quiet moments. The set, lighting, etc., create the atmosphere. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/16/24 Full Review sam s 7/10. One of the best (Unofficial) adaptation of The Last of Us. Really, really good movie. Uma das melhores adaptações (não oficial) de The Last of Us. Muito bom filme. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Charlotte D Acting was okay, had to stop watching within 20 minutes; not my cup of tea. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/26/22 Full Review Read all reviews
