What to Know

Critics Consensus

Despite some fine performances and memorable scenes, Fast Food Nation is more effective as Eric Schlosser's eye-opening non-fiction book than as Richard Linklater's fictionalized, mostly punchless movie.

Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review david l Fast Food Nation deals with an important subject matter, some actors did make an impression here and a couple of its discussions are admirably dialectical in approach. However, this is still such a majorly chaotic movie that only barely resembles a feature fiction film having in mind that its editing is horrible, its overall structure is an utter mess, and some of its sections piled on tragedy so much that the result reminded me unpleasantly of the much maligned Crash. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member One of the slowest movies ever made. The story had potential but there was nothing happening for 90 % of the movie and when something happened it feels ok but than more boring stuff. Even the exciting moments aren't entertaining as it's very sad how the mexicans got treated. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Completely repulsive. I don't want to see any of this on-screen, especially when the film is boring and poorly made.
