Michael Blowen Boston Globe A sparkling comedy that skips along on the strength of Matthew Broderick's deceptively difficult performance. Jul 30, 2024 Full Review Paul Attanasio Washington Post The whole script is off-balance. Jan 3, 2018 Full Review Kathleen Carroll New York Daily News "Ferris Bueller" has some cheerfully zany scenes, but lacks the originality and verve of Hughes' previous telltale teen comedies. Rated: 3.5/4 Jun 10, 2016 Full Review Dan Webster Spokesman-Review (Washington) May be [John Hughes'] best film to date. Funny, poignant and rebellious, "Ferris Bueller" is the most cinematically controlled of Hughes' directorial efforts. It speaks to all ages. Rated: 4/4 Jul 27, 2024 Full Review George Kowalik Vague Visages If Ferris Bueller and his day off resemble something else universal, it is liberation. In the context of the journey, this is best understood as the ability to be in transit. Oct 4, 2023 Full Review Justin Brown Medium Popcorn I still enjoyed this but worry about how much a reboot will dilute this classic, which seems inevitable at this point. Julie Smith Everything! Every scene is classic John Hughes! Ferris Buller is everyone’s hero! 🤣 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/22/23 Full Review Nyia Luna Best throwback film to remind you to take a second to slow down and enjoy the lil things ☺️ Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/13/22 Full Review Gnr E I like the choice of actors they’re so good (sorry for my bad english) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/17/24 Full Review Lincoln B Wow! I saw this movie last night for the first time and it is probably one of my favorite throwbacks and a definite must watch for anyone over thirteen. I grew up loving John Hughes films and this one was no different Ferris's story is hilarious and the sly fourth wall breaks really set the tone for the whole movie and add depth to Ferris as a character. Ferris is definitely a jerk but the way he’s portrayed you can’t help liking and rooting for him throughout. Today many iconic 80’s films have had straight to video sequels and reboots but this one has been left untouched and for good reason as it is simply just the story of one perfect day in the life of this punk kid. I hope this film will have a theatrical re-realse as it definitely deserves it. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/13/24 Full Review Neill V One of those 'must see' movies. Broderick has never been better. It's an absolute classic. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/06/24 Full Review Bob B One of my all time favourite films, the ultimate feel good movie for those brought up in the 80's Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/02/24 Full Review Read all reviews
