Fly Me to the Moon

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Sustained by Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum's screwball chemistry even when its plotting strains credulity, this throwback romance is a pleasant enough trip to the moon and back.

Annie Berke The New Republic The space rom-com with Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum doesn’t know what it wants to be. Aug 3, 2024 Full Review Richard Brody New Yorker This rom-com about the marketing of the Apollo space program, starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum, has an inconsistent tone and a vague point of view. Jul 23, 2024 Full Review Kylie Bolter Chicago Reader Fly Me to the Moon is an underwhelming space race film that can’t quite decide on its genre. Jul 16, 2024 Full Review Roger Salvans Fotogramas Berlanti proves himself in comedy and embraces with conviction the themes of the sixties romcom: a sugary and colorful war of the sexes a la Rock Hudson and Doris Day sieved through the 'Mad Men' filter... [Full review in Spansih] Rated: 3/5 Aug 8, 2024 Full Review Nicholas Bell Fish Jelly Films (YouTube) While it's unable to steer its romantically predetermined components into any real semblance of authenticity, Fly Me to the Moon finds Scarlett Johansson in top form as a fascinating woman deserving of a more satisfying outcome. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 7, 2024 Full Review Kathryn Reklis The Christian Century It's not a great movie...it’s half-baked both as a breezy romantic comedy and as a stirring patriotic ode...but I appreciate how it understands the fundamental distrust toward manipulation that sits at the heart of conspiracy thinking. Chef Julie I went to the movie most excited to see the "Cape Canaveral" stuff, and the movie didn't disappoint. LOVED the premise of Moe and the "conspiracy", and also how it was side-stepped by a clever Scarlett Johanssen. Channing Tatum did his best with a flimsy character. His job was to stand and look wounded, I guess. SUCH a tired character... come on, Hollywood. Does EVERYONE have to have absent parents and/or a huge disappointment in their lives to be an interesting person. The movie kept our attention... chuckled out loud quite a few times, but we felt like Scarlett carried the show with her quick repartee and charm. Costumes were to DIE for, and dead-accurate... it couldn't have been easy to wear what were clearly the "Bras of the Time". How DID they do it? The movie was a little tiresome, but a lotta cute. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/11/24 Full Review Mary Loved it! We are big NASA fans here. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/10/24 Full Review Samuel It was a good movie but not there could of been better action and more romance did not seem like a romance movie at all Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/09/24 Full Review Dez I enjoyed the movie, it was interesting and didn't feel long at all. It has good role models Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/08/24 Full Review Ken F I liked everything about it. Really enjoyed it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/07/24 Full Review Jennifer Excellent acting, intriguing plot that has you on the edge of your seat, a beautiful mix of adventure, comedy, and romance.
