He's a fine actor, often truly special. He's a master of the physical act of a wave of the hand, a shake of the head, but mostly his facial gestures express so much without a word. And he's on his game in this one. It's what I call a 'small film' to a degree, despite the setting and outré feel at times. Griffin Dunne's character seems rather unnecessary, and annoying. Nice to see Bebe Neuwirth all hot n' bothered in next to nothing. Downey's acting was a throwback to early 90's Downey. Harlow, O'Hara & Yulin are all strong here (there are no small parts, just small people: anon?). Don't go and put it on some 'must see' list. But if you come across it on cable or streaming some night, maybe pullover for a while, let the engine cool, and give this a whirl. 3.1 stars Rated 3/5 Stars •  Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Game 6 is a movie about a playwright who is stressing out that a critic will give him a bad review and simultaneously nervous that the Red Sox will lose the 1986 World Series. No, wait, he’s not worried about the entire series yet, just Game 6?? It’s such a poor premise built strictly around the hindsight of knowing how the Red Sox self-destructed in that specific game. They even cop out with the main characters at the end just saying “Well, that means they’ll lose Game 7 too.” The most frustrating thing about Game 6 is that it is so indescribably BORING! I fell asleep 3 times while watching and had to rewind to find that I missed nothing. It should be a crime for a movie to be able to take funny and charming actors like Michael Keaton and Robert Downey, Jr. and turn them into such lifeless characters. They are clearly having no fun, and they don’t even bring sarcasm or humor to these downtrodden people. They are depressing to watch. I’m not sure what the point was of Game 6, but they failed at whatever they were trying. The film is almost unwatchable.
