Interview With the Vampire

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Despite lacking some of the book's subtler shadings, and suffering from some clumsy casting, Interview with a Vampire benefits from Neil Jordan's atmospheric direction and a surfeit of gothic thrills.

Kevin Maher Times (UK) Only 11 at the time, [Dunst's] range is extraordinary, and she easily outclasses her adult male co-stars in every scene. Rated: 4/5 Feb 16, 2024 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian Horribly exciting, shocking and funny. Rated: 5/5 Feb 15, 2024 Full Review Gene Siskel Chicago Tribune Director Neil Jordan has always had an affinity for underdogs, and he has created a film that can be viewed as empathetic to any oppressed group. Homosexuals may claim it as their emotional story Rated: 3.5/4 Aug 23, 2017 Full Review Steve Warren Southern Voice (Atlanta) Cruise plays one scene at a time, never getting an overall fix on his limited role. May 8, 2023 Full Review Samantha Allen them. The 1994 adaptation of Interview with the Vampire is a camp classic. Oct 27, 2022 Full Review Quentin Crisp Christopher Street I simply do not want any more movies about vampires or about Mr. Frankenstein. I thought Interview was rubbish -- routine, but illogical rubbish. Apr 21, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

Mark C Film is quite random. Quite well done with great costumes and effects, feels like a play at times. The story didn't grab me enough. Which is probably why I don't remember any of it from watching it many years before. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/06/24 Full Review Audience Member great movie but had tom cruise. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/23/24 Full Review Dan C I was disappointed upon rewatching this film years later. I remembered this film having more scares and an engaging story however I felt it was really slow upon reflection. Overall: Acting is solid as you would expect from Hollywood finest but it's missing that killer instinct for me and left me feeling drained unfortunately. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/14/24 Full Review Julian S Overall, it remains a strong and timeless adaptation due to Jordan's dreamy, dark, and gothic direction. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/09/24 Full Review Larry K The cast was fantastic - Kirsten Dunst especially. Such a cool concept for a movie.
