Cory Woodroof 615 Film A touching portrait of small-town America in a period of evolution, where the formal social circle of town must adapt or die. Aug 11, 2022 Full Review Jay Horton Willamette Week Jasper Mall's showcases all that is valiantly ridiculous about the fight to keep the shopping center open in a tone that is both warm and dignified. Rated: 3.5/4 Jan 23, 2021 Full Review Rich Juzwiak The Muse/Jezebel A meditative, sensitive, and bemused portrait of a dying mall in Alabama that was filmed in 2018. Dec 31, 2020 Full Review Ian Thomas Malone ianthomasmalone.com The beauty of Jasper Mall is through its ability to retain an upbeat narrative while never losing sight of the inevitably bleak outcome. Nov 30, 2020 Full Review Erik Childress eFilmCritic.com Thomason & Whitcomb let the film unfold with a simple grace that recalls the early works of Errol Morris and the Maysles. There's a subtle sadness with the occasional laugh, but ultimately it feels like real life and that is something worth remembering. Rated: 3.25/4 Sep 15, 2020 Full Review Evan Dossey Midwest Film Journal A eulogy for a culture lost even before the world turned to shit. Human and lovely. Jul 10, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Interesting views of the struggles of a mall in a world of declining in person retail sales. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Jasper Mall is like the Titanic, you know its going down. However, you want to know how the people are doing inside. As we find out they aren't doing well. But that is why we watch isn't it? Spoiler Alert: Not everyone dies in this film, just one. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Patrick L In the last few years we've seen activist documentaries that flood the viewer with information, many of which are great, but Jasper Mall allows you to slow down and simply enjoy beautiful scenes, captured in a candid style, and edited with a sense of humor. Stripped of all the tricks and gimmicks of reality TV, this is raw and captivating. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/01/21 Full Review Audience Member Very well done. Poignant, kind and honest. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review William L Excellent. Very close to E. Morris level doc. Have to admit to feeling a little heartache here. Malls were never all THAT bad, were they? You could pal around with friends, chase girls, people watch and get an Orange Julius. Try getting any pleasure out of that at Walmart or even Costco. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/27/20 Full Review Audience Member If you're contemplating suicide don't watch this movie. All you want is for it to be over with. I could only take 10 minutes of this before I had to end it. The movie that is. It's not a history of the mall/s throughout the decades, it's watching a security guard open the mall, shop owners open stores, old people walking, old people playing dominoes, flower shop owner talking to a customer. Its nothing that would pertain to creating an interesting or intriguing story about the Jasper Mall. It's literally as if I walked into a mall and sat down on a bench. What crazy person thought this movie was a good idea? Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews
