What to Know

Critics Consensus

Seeking Justice is nothing more than a typical potboiler with another phoned-in performance by Nicolas Cage.

Noah Berlatsky The Atlantic The set-up is painfully contrived, and the film is littered with the usual plot holes. Aug 28, 2019 Full Review Deborah Ross The Spectator A plodding and uninteresting revenge thriller. Aug 31, 2018 Full Review Roger Moore Tribune News Service Not much better than the dreck Nic Cage has been shoveling at us in recent years - a tad smarter, perhaps. But as in life, he keeps getting up off the mat and coming back for more, even if much of his audience isn't returning the favor. Rated: 2/4 Mar 23, 2012 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review The whole movie might’ve been more entertaining had Cage imbued Will with his usual whacked-out eccentricities, but his performance is decidedly low-impact, much like the movie itself. Rated: 2/4 Feb 22, 2023 Full Review Debbie Lynn Elias Behind The Lens In Seeking Justice, Cage is in unfamiliar territory as the bookish Will Gerard which lends itself well to Cage delivering one of his best performances in some time. Nov 26, 2019 Full Review Abbie Bernstein Assignment X The treatment the subject gets here pretty much deters earnest discussion, but if it's a little too absurd to be profound, it's at least kinetic enough to be fun. Kyle J Why can't a movie have vigilantes who are good through and through? This movie would have been more interesting if the good guys were good guys. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/02/24 Full Review kevin c After his wife is brutally attacked, aman, played by Nicholas Cage, is approached by a stranger played by Guy Pearce, who promises vengeance if he agrees to return a favor in the future. Once he agrees his life is turned upside down as he is thrust into a mysterious and dangerous situation. I really enjoyed this. Great story kept me interested throughout and Cage and Pearce are great in it. January Jones co stars. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member When an opening scene starts with the hero riding to bring justice.. and the hero can't ride, flopping around in the saddle... I thought it was a comedy. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Not a bad thriller that is kept together and focused by the two leads and their conflict, perfect casting. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Many of the paid critics seem not to have troubled themselves to pay attention. Too bad, since that what this fli k requires. They gave better reviews to a far Nick Cage flick, Vengeance - a Love Story, a story as deep as a puddle and predictable as tic-tac-toe. Ignore them. Despite the lame title, Seeking Vengeance is a complex story with great chemistry between the Cage and January J. In addition the story has the female lead breaking against stereotypes and being quite a badass, in contrast to Cage's character, a good guy who finds himself in over his head. In this Cage himself is portraying a character against predictable expectations. Guy Pearce is excellent, as always. And a cast of solid veteran actors rounds out this excellent flick. Be sure to catch it. You'll be glad you did. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Really interesting plot & storyline; captain justice vigilante sure have some serious planning & timing skills. It seem like a sinking sand just corner you deeper & deeper into conspiracy setup and you can't get out. Pretty enjoyable thriller, happy with the pick Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Read all reviews
