john c This is totally "off the wall" Welsh humour. Reminds me of the Satellite City series that can still be seen on YouTube I believe, undoubtedly due to the heavy Boyd Clack influence. For the first half of this film, I watched with mounting impatience and bewilderment, what on earth was La Cha Cha about? What sort of cluttered, disorganised imagination and humour was being displayed? And then, the film came together at just the point it unravels: La Cha Cha, an outdoor commune for old people has to be sold, and the whole commune under danger, unite in trying to save it, and the stranger who until now has been regarded with dislike and suspicion, becomes the main hope. The earlier suggestions of Bruegel and Hieronymous Bosch in the odd glimpses of nudity or bare bottoms or ingestion by huge fish start to make sense. Like the Flemish painters there is rich colour so that if you close your eyes afterwards, the colour comes flooding back. This is a vivid, funny and serious movie, about the gruesomeness of ageing, but also about the freedom to enjoy it in its own manner. I liked this film the more for not having a smooth, slick opening - there is something particularly rousing about having your mind changed, being shocked from bemusement to appreciation. The end illuminates the beginning. It is an unusual film with some hilarious moments, and highly recommended. Rated 5/5 Stars •  Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Live in South Wales so this film is based in the area I live in, Like Twin Town it shows the quirkiness of Welsh Culture unlike Twin town its pretty laugh Free. It does have some funny lines but I don't think they will translate so well with non Welsh people. There are some moments that are spoken entirely in Welsh (without subtitles I must add) and that was an odd choice as 70% of Wales cannot speak or understand their own native language. Script needed more editing but I have to say for a movie filmed entirely on smartphones it looked pretty nice. Anyway the cast are great there are some jokes and it looks good but don't expect Twin Town Rated 3/5 Stars •  Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I think the fact the audience at Snowcat Cinema (Penarth Pier) were laughing out loud all way through it says it all. Its a funny, crazy film that doesn't take itself too seriously. It takes a poke at healthcare, property developers and has some wonderful cameos.
