Everyone has their own Chimera, something they try to achieve but never manage to find. For the band of tombaroli, thieves of ancient grave goods and archaeological wonders, the Chimera means redemption from work and the dream of easy wealth. For Arthur, the Chimera looks like the woman he lost, Beniamina. To find her, Arthur challenges the invisible, searches everywhere, goes inside the earth -- in search of the door to the afterlife of which myths speak. In an adventurous journey between the living and the dead, between forests and cities, between celebrations and solitudes, the intertwined destinies of these characters unfold, all in search of the Chimera. Mark Kermode Kermode and Mayo's Take (YouTube) The film's got more than a hint of Fellini in it; a carnivalesque rogues galleria of faces... May 13, 2024 Full Review Wendy Ide Observer (UK) The film’s riches come from Rohrwacher’s seemingly inexhaustible wealth of ideas... Rated: 5/5 May 12, 2024 Full Review Clarisse Loughrey Independent (UK) It stirs up a fierce protectiveness in the viewer. Treasure this now, hold it, turn it, and examine it from all sides, or it may slip beyond your grasp. Rated: 5/5 May 10, 2024 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Rohrwacher’s film has all the trappings of great European arthouse cinema from the 1960s and 1970s. Rated: 4/4 Jul 25, 2024 Full Review Christopher Connor Flickering Myth Josh O’Connor is magnificent giving off a cool exterior while anguishing on the inside, losing himself in this dangerous yet exhilarating world. This further cements Alice Rohrwacher as a filmmaker of the highest order a singular talent. Rated: 4/5 Jul 2, 2024 Full Review Michael Wood London Review of Books One more tomb awaits Arthur, and you need to see the movie to learn what happens there. Actually, even when you’ve seen it you won’t be quite sure, because several fascinating interpretations of the events are possible. Judge ye. May 31, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Shane E It was mysterious and accidentally beautiful. It reminded me of what movies can be. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/15/24 Full Review elaine f A sweet, funny, sad movie. Great actors (although the Italian gang was a little stereotypical). We could see it again since. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/14/24 Full Review Marshall A film for the film lovers!! Parts of it reminded me of things Kubrick and Godard would do! Solid movie!! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/14/24 Full Review Marcos G A poetic reflection on our dreams, our failures, and the unavoidable obstacles placed before us. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/12/24 Full Review Savannah G I loved seeing Josh O'Connor lean into this film. He spoke two languages! I will always give props to whoever takes that on. The Lesson throughout the movie was unclear to me, but you realize that the Character Buried himself in his thoughts and character traits that held him back from wanting something he could not have and putting any effort into changing the outcome. The colors in this movie matched the time it was supposed to match. I love the clothes, scenery, and Haze this movie gave. It wasn't my favorite, but the "impossible Dream" idea is relatable to people. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/08/24 Full Review Audience Member Too slow for me. Dialogues are very short with little happening. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/03/24 Full Review Read all reviews
