Think of all the ways that a linear film structure stabilizes us - the cause and effect chain of events. But Memento is about a character completely destabilized, so Nolan destabilizes us accordingly in a way maybe no other movie has.

This movie is hard to get through. What I mean by that is it's confusing. You'll find yourself lost in just about every scene, and the reason for that is the constant time jumping. You see, there's a timeline of all the movie's events. But, it jumps from one place to another on the time line in almost every scene change. It all makes sense in the end of the movie though. It's like a puzzle, but in my opinion, the ending is amazing.
