Hamish Macbain Empire Magazine It's strange to watch a war epic and think that what it could do with less of are the gravelly Liam Neeson speeches. But that is exactly what happens here. Rated: 3/5 Jan 9, 2017 Full Review Nigel Andrews Financial Times Operation Chromite so bad it's almost spellbinding. Rated: 1/5 Dec 23, 2016 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian Creaky and clunky, weirdly reminiscent of big-budget prestige movies of years gone by such as The Longest Day, which used to always crop up on bank holiday TV. Rated: 2/5 Dec 22, 2016 Full Review James Mudge easternKicks.com It's hard not to feel a little underwhelmed by the familiarity of it all, and many viewers will yearn for the day when directors might try to do something different Rated: 3/5 Oct 27, 2020 Full Review VyceVictus Lewton Bus I still ultimately enjoy what Operation Chromite brings to the table as far as an entertaining war film created in the modern era is concerned. Feb 6, 2020 Full Review Stephen Kelly Total Film Entertaining in its own way, though probably not in the way intended. Rated: 2/5 Dec 27, 2016 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member I actually could not stand that interpretation voice overs so it’s tough to rate 2.0 Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Poor verging on embarrassing drivel Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Neither horrific nor particularly memorable... Neeson's acting falls short in this one. Woefully short Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Admit it, Western eyes are so ignorant of any Korean perspective of the Korean war that this simple classic war epic is at minimum, educational. If graded in relation to our absolute ignorance, then this gets an A+ as a Beginning Course in understanding the Korean War, despite poetic license or outright inaccuracies. Although not in the same rhythm as our requisite, to the point of banally trite, neo-nihilistic, and depressingly anti-hero laden, filmic genre that we fawn over with high reviews, the film is, by comparison, almost perfectly imperfect, well made despite immense obstacles, such as the challenge in including a large American Viewpoint within this Korean Motion Picture. One sees heroism and fighting against immense odds, and the viewer comes away with increased knowledge of one of the most important events in 20th Century History. Despite this, Rotten Tomatoes gives this film a 33% and Spider Man 90% and Iron Man 94% and Kill Bill Volume II 84%. Somebody, please, gag me with a spoon. Anyway, setting all that aside, and despite its imperfections, I found the film informative, emotionally moving, and catalytic in reminding me, although a student of Asian Culture and History, how little I, and most Americans, really know about Korea and, specifically the subject of this film, the Korean War. 4.5 Stars. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member The movie is thrilling and I love the actors! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Make no mistake, this is a Korean movie, nearly all subtitled (I was not aware of this from the preview). That said, it did a good job holding my attention. I always wonder how true to facts a movie "based on actual events" is, and I do not know how accurate this film is, but if most of it is a true story, then it is quite remarkable what those young Korean men did for the war effort. This movie is heartwarming and sad, and ultimately very engaging. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews
