Tony Scott Variety Visually and dramatically Marriage is terrif, with Dinah Collins's costumes and designer Stuart Walker's contributions top of the line in establishing the period piece's English and continental look and feel. Jan 10, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Just my cup of tea, highly recommended if you have not seen it Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member I don't know why this had to be four hours long, these people really aren't that interesting. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Passion vs security.....Reminds me on Virginia Woolf story as well. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member I think David Haig is brilliant in this adapation. Recently purchased the DVD having watched it originally on television some years ago. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Excellent portrayal of the VERY complex relationships between Vita Sackville-West, Harold Nicolson, Violet Kepple and Denys Trefusis. The legacy is of course Sissinghurst. I remember making a pilgrimage to Sissinghurst quite soon after the series was first shown, and to Knole a bit later. An infinitely more engaging 4 hours than the BBC's recent whingeathon "Sissinghurst: Portrait of a Garden", not least because of the absence of the current Nicolson occupants going on and on about the tablecloths! Of coure, because "Portrait of a Mariage is SO good, the BBC showed it only once (without a repeat), while they've now shown "Sissinghurst: Portrait of a Garden" n times!
