What to Know

Critics Consensus

Formulaic in its plotting and cliched in its dialogue, Pride and Glory does little to distinguish itself from other police procedurals.

Rated: 1.5/5 Feb 13, 2009 Full Review David Stratton The Australian The actors in Pride and Glory do their best with this cliched material, but the film is so grim, ugly and miserable that it's difficult to sympathise with even the most positive characters. Pantera O "I don't know what's happening" Un policia que inviestiga un caso, descubre una red de corrupción que involucra a sus hermanos. Elegante. Intensa. Confusa. Quede insatisfecho y confundido. ¿Confias en tu hermano? Ma familia es primero. Outstanding cast. The kind where every actor and actress were perfect for the parts they portrayed. Testament to the character development and writing. Well worth the watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/02/24 Full Review Steve B I thought this was a great movie Severely underrated. It depicts the sometimes ugly but true underside of cops & robbers that goes on in a big city like New York. The performances by the cast was absolutely great, gritty and heart felt. A great drama. Every movie can't be gone with the wind or the king and I to be worthy of good reviews. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/15/23 Full Review CT 8 This was a pretty decent movie until the last 20 minutes or so. It looks like the writers gave up at that point. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review steve d Shockingly straightforward despite some fantastic actors involved. No surprises to be found. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review isla s This film features a lot of quite quiet/low (mumbled) dialogue which I found hard to follow. However, it is more characted focussed than action centric, which I prefer but I thought some aspects of the plot were a little unclear, although the general theme of crooked cops was fairly obvious. Its no wonder this film wasnt released for a fair while after 9/11 took place, as I believe is the case - crooked NYPD cops, just what would have cheered people up at that time but in any case, this film is ok. Its obviously a bit gritty and urban and it features quite a lot of shaky camerawork, which I don't particularly like. Its one thing if its in context, i.e. the plot equates to a lot of panic and shaky surroundings but this wasn't always the case and so I found it a bit distracting. Ultimately it was the quiet dialogue that frustrated me most, so I'm only giving this a 3 star rating due to that issue and the shaky camerawork. Overall I wouldn't recommend this film, no.
