What to Know

Critics Consensus

It doesn't offer much in the way of substance, but Prince of Persia is a suitably entertaining swashbuckler -- and a substantial improvement over most video game adaptations.

Keith Uhlich Time Out A Jerry Bruckheimer-produced video game adaptation-it has to be good, doesn't it? (Ya, sarcasm.) Rated: 2/5 Nov 18, 2011 Full Review Nick Schager L.A. Weekly [A] cacophonous, frivolous adaptation of Ubisoft's Arabian Nights-themed video-game series. Jun 7, 2010 Full Review Peter Rainer Christian Science Monitor The sheer whoosh of the story line keeps you watching anyway, and, as the prince, Jake Gyllenhaal has a hearty good-naturedness that comes as a relief amid all the turbocharged antics. He wears his heroism lightly. Rated: B- Jun 4, 2010 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review When so many summer blockbusters try desperately to achieve a balance between escapism and quality filmmaking, this movie’s lack of effort to be anything but standardized is insulting. Rated: 1/4 Aug 18, 2023 Full Review Stuart McGurk NME (New Musical Express) While it doesn't really work as a whole, the set-pieces are diverting enough along the way. Rated: 2/5 May 19, 2021 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins The only redeeming factor is Ben Kingsley, who seems to genuinely enjoy his terrible role. Tug A I love the 2010 prince of persia I love the cemetery between jake gyllenhaal and gemma arterton and my love towards alfred molina in spider man 2 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/22/24 Full Review Gorptholemew T 🍀 3.8/10 Either I was gonna watch the movie where the shark was under Paris, or go back to that one movie where Jake Gyllenhaal pretends to be Persian, welp guess which one I picked. I forgot how boring bland and uninspired this film was please don’t make me watch this movie again. like I will give it credit where credits do I like that they use practical sets, and some of the spectacle is pretty cool with people actually riding horses in the battle and tons of extras gives it a bit more credit in my opinion. And I do like Alfred Molina, and Steve Toussaint there actually pretty good in here. Still, I hate the banter between the characters it’s unbearable for me. Anyways, I know nothing about these games so tell me was it a good adaptation. Grade C Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 06/10/24 Full Review Raven M It is a film that tries to fit in too much from the first two videos games in the Prince of Persia that doesn't pay off well at all . Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/29/24 Full Review Soteris S This movie really tried to recreate the charm of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Although it failed, it still managed to produce an enjoyable fantasy adventure film with good action, a solid soundtrack and passable acting. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/22/24 Full Review Kevin W I really liked the movie. The story was told well and I liked the characters. It is good I realize to ignore the movie "critics". They read way too much into a movie. There were some parts that made no sense but it is a movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/08/24 Full Review John R Decent acting and good plot, but the actual photography and style was terrible. Cliche slow motion shots, weird camera angles and cuts that seem to show the actors making the worst faces. The actual production was terrible.
