Ella Taylor L.A. Weekly A fond genre move that's forever chortling up its sleeve at the puerile idiocy of the genre, a heist caper without a heist, an action movie that's hopelessly in love with talk and a poem to the sexiness of storytelling. Jan 12, 2024 Full Review Joe Pollack St. Louis Post-Dispatch The story is as phony as the names the robbers take - Mr. White, Mr. Blue, Mr. Blonde, Mr. Pink and Mr. Brown - and it's also a hymn to violence, blood and sadism that reaches repulsive levels. Oct 14, 2022 Full Review Jay Carr Boston Globe And while Tarantino never quite succeeds in putting around each character the sense of isolation that marks the best noirs, he carries off this exercise in lively fashion. It's more purple than noir, but it's got juice. Apr 27, 2018 Full Review John Brhel Vague Visages Reservoir Dogs is an impressive debut that reflects Tarantino's unique, postmodern style and points towards things to come. Jun 6, 2023 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand Precisely plotted and engagingly juggled into a rich swirl of flashbacks that wind through the current crisis, this is the work of a director who loves movies and a storyteller engaged with the art of telling stories. Feb 4, 2023 Full Review Paul Mount Starburst The film possesses a stomach-churning urgency following a deceptively languid opening... Rated: 5/5 Nov 30, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

Yostin . Un gran comienzo para un gran director Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/11/24 Full Review Maximilian B "Reservoir Dogs," Quentin Tarantino's directorial debut, remains one of my all-time favorite movies. Released in 1992, this gritty, dialogue-driven heist film set the stage for Tarantino's signature style, blending sharp wit, nonlinear storytelling, and intense violence. The film boasts an exceptional ensemble cast, including Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Steve Buscemi, and Tarantino himself. Each actor delivers a memorable performance, bringing their distinct characters to life with a mix of menace, vulnerability, and dark humor. The chemistry among the cast is palpable, making their interactions riveting and authentic. The narrative structure of "Reservoir Dogs" is one of its standout features. By eschewing a straightforward chronology, Tarantino creates a sense of mystery and tension that keeps viewers engaged from start to finish. The film delves deep into character backstories and motivations, unraveling the events of a botched heist through a series of flashbacks and conversations. Tarantino's dialogue is another highlight, filled with sharp, memorable lines that reveal the characters' personalities and relationships. The infamous "Stuck in the Middle with You" torture scene, in particular, showcases his ability to juxtapose humor and horror in a way that is both disturbing and compelling. The film's minimalistic approach to setting and action emphasizes the strength of its screenplay and performances. Most of the action unfolds in a single location—a warehouse—where the aftermath of the heist is explored in detail. This focus on character and dialogue over spectacle sets "Reservoir Dogs" apart from typical crime thrillers. "Reservoir Dogs" also features a killer soundtrack that complements its stylish, edgy vibe. The use of pop songs from the '70s adds an ironic, almost playful contrast to the film's violent undertones, enhancing its overall impact. In conclusion, "Reservoir Dogs" is a masterclass in independent filmmaking and storytelling. Its innovative narrative structure, sharp dialogue, and outstanding performances make it a timeless classic. For me, it's not just a favorite movie; it's a benchmark of cinematic excellence that continues to influence and inspire. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/21/24 Full Review Dan F This film will make you feel things very dark shitty things. I forgot how much racially charged language was in this film I was kind of shocked when I rewatched it the other day. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/10/24 Full Review Audience Member This film felt like it was going nowhere, but this film turned into something insane after the halfway point. This film might be one of my favorites ever. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/25/24 Full Review First name L A borderline perfect character drama, pulls no punches. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/22/24 Full Review Tom G Amazing setting for a film that stayed mostly between the four walls of an old warehouse, the characters and their introductions are done brilliantly, with Tarantino choosing to drag dialogue out purposefully to play with the watcher's mind. An interestingly early reveal of the undercover cop, but it plays out well, with the Wolf himself only finding out at the very end of the film, almost as though his knowledge (or lack of) is the only thing that matters. And the acting is so believable, top-tier by all. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/13/24 Full Review Read all reviews
