Sicario

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Led by outstanding work from Emily Blunt and Benicio del Toro, Sicario is a taut, tightly wound thriller with much more on its mind than attention-getting set pieces.

Jason Bailey Flavorwire It's a thoughtful film, but also a visceral and affecting one, capturing the intensity of these raids and encounters. May 3, 2016 Full Review Adam Nayman Reverse Shot Sicario is as brilliantly made as Prisoners, perhaps even more so. Dec 7, 2015 Full Review Alison Willmore BuzzFeed News Gorgeously made, with a set piece taking place in tunnels underneath the border that conveys chaos without ever looking incoherent and a throbbing Jóhann Jóhannsson score that's the sound of very bad things on the horizon. Nov 10, 2015 Full Review JD Duran InSession Film Denis Villeneuve continues to impress and showcases his strength as a filmmaker impressively with Sicario. This film is incredibly tense and it never relents until the final credits roll. Aug 2, 2024 Full Review Brendan Cassidy InSession Film Seriously, the movie didn't deserve to be this good. On top of all this, Michael B. Jordan is a star, and Sylvester Stallone turns his most iconic character of Rocky Balboa into one of the best supporting performances of the year. Aug 2, 2024 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand This is a film built on a foundation soaked in nitroglycerin; every situation seems pitched on the verge of combustion. Tim R The only good thing about Sicario is that it has Josh Brolin, Benicio Del Toro and Emily Blunt and a few scenes of shocking action and not much else. At least the second Sicario movie is a whole lot better movie worth watching. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/10/24 Full Review Dave S Gratuitously nasty, implausible, shallow and empty. One star for the ghostly cinematography of the Afghan vets in action; and the other for the performances of Blunt, del Toro and Brolin. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/08/24 Full Review Tyler G Sicario (2015) was one of the best movies I've watched in a while down to the ending scene. Emily Blunt's performance with Benicia del Toro is outstanding, and I was in awe the entire time. This blew the doors off of my expectations and what I thought it would be. A great film that honors real life nuances without overdoing things. I wish I saw this sooner. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/08/24 Full Review Kieran C Very few movies build tension as well as Sicario. Very few movies I still a sense of impending dress that builds throughout. Sicario is easily one of the best movies that was snubbed for Best Picture and is far better than many nominees and even winners. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/03/24 Full Review Priyan B Extraordinary cinematography and soundtrack makes this movie worth watching. 7.9/10 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/25/24 Full Review Phillip H Must see. Best action movie. All 2 movies are superb Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/20/24 Full Review Read all reviews
