Charlotte O'Sullivan London Evening Standard Thanks to the posturing, intrusive soundtrack and implausible, clichd script, it's hard to take any of it too seriously. Rated: 2/5 Oct 28, 2011 Full Review Anna Smith Empire Magazine Despite some confusing narrative turns, writer-director Nirpal Bhogal's thriller is an impactful and authentic look at gang culture on London's meaner streets. Rated: 3/5 Oct 27, 2011 Full Review Henry Barnes Guardian Sigh. Rated: 2/5 Oct 27, 2011 Full Review Matt Glasby Total Film A film that, for all its grit and attitude, lacks sufficient cred. Rated: 2/5 Oct 31, 2011 Full Review Philip French Observer (UK) It's a confused and confusing movie with odd good moments, but has little by way of revealing insight other than the suggestion that the girl gangsters need loving parents and the protection of a nurturing family. Oct 30, 2011 Full Review Francesca Steele Sky Cinema Gritty urban London films are two a penny these days but with Sket, script and production advice from real former gang members has helped create a film that is new, sincere and actually has something to say. Audience Member Loved this film great to see girl gangs rather than the usual male ones Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member It should have been me who killed him. A gang violently attacks a girl killing her. The girl's sixteen year old little sister wants revenge for the death of her sister and best friend and joins a ruthless female gang; however, even the ruthless female gang doesn't dare mess with the gang that killed the girl's sister. When the female gang sees the ruthless gang in action, and impacting some of their own, they may change their mind. "Still murking people?" "Still fucking them?" Nirpal Bhogal, director of episodes from the television series Misfits, delivers Skets in his directorial debut. The storyline for this picture is unique in the way it is told and is about a stray young lady and contains a sub plot of a female gang with nothing to lose. I did enjoy the concept and character development. The acting was also pretty good and the cast includes Lily Loveless, Riann Steele, Aimee Kelly, Emma Hartley-Miller, Richie Campbell, Ashley Walters, and Adelayo Adedayo. "You going to do something useful with yourself?" Sket is a movie I came across on Netflix that was recommended to me. The reviews were fairly high so I gave it a chance. I will say this is better than average and contains some unique qualities, but this is far from a classic for the genre. This is an interesting coming of age mixed with gangster film. I would watch this once but wouldn't add it to my DVD collection. "You fucking made me!" Grade: C+ Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Really really bad. Do not waste your time watching this crap. Worst of it is how the story progress. Character motivations are laughable and it feels like scenario was written by a mediocre 12 yo. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Another terrible gritty drama, in London, on a council estate, crucifying the english language. When you've seen one you've seen them all. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Pretty Good! EXCELLENT MUSIC! I Will be Downloading Soundtrack ! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Only watched as it had Lily Loveless in as I love her from Skins. This film was really boring, felt rushed and the ending was really dull. It should of been a longer film, it felt like I was watching an episode of Shameless, an hour long and left with a cliffhanger wanting more. I wouldn't bother watching this film.
