Amy Nicholson Variety A frosty tale of a star who was more machine than human, "Sonja: The White Swan" is, like Henie herself, brash and dazzling and hard to love. Rated: B- Feb 4, 2019 Full Review Fionnuala Halligan Screen International Wilmann... delivers an athletic, confident performance, and attacks the alcoholic sequences with gusto. Even though she behaves dreadfully, her Sonja still manages to be a sympathetic presence - occasionally. Jan 27, 2019 Full Review Stephen Farber Hollywood Reporter Strong and powerful are not in and of themselves attractive qualities when the person who possesses them is utterly selfish and destructive. The slick but formulaic filmmaking is not much of an advantage here, either. Jan 26, 2019 Full Review Fiona Underhill JumpCut Online An interesting biopic which doesn't skate over what it takes to power your way to the top and should have you swanning to the cinema. Rated: 3/5 Mar 21, 2019 Full Review Alex Heeney Seventh Row Even though it's set in the 1930s-1950s, Sewitsky features contemporary music throughout - a reminder that Henie's sexual liberty, financial independence, and business acumen made her a very modern woman. Mar 11, 2019 Full Review Rosalie Kicks MovieJawn I have a brimming Rolodex of dead pals and yet there are still so many corpses I haven't met. Until recently one of these stiffs was Sonja Henie. I'm really glad we met via this flick. Rated: 3/4 Feb 20, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member The film about Norway's most famous woman - Sonja Henie. We watch her during her succesful days as she is a big sports star, movie star and icon in the US. She rule the world but the success is tearing her apart. Partying, spending her money and treating people very badly. A very harsh biography, and not the type of reflection ou really expect - this film is not putting the woman in a friendly spot. Sad and brave film in many ways, with a good lead role by Ine Marie Wilmann. It looks OK and has some entertainment value. I hate the score though - modern electonica does not mix well with an 80 year old story. 6 out of 10 skates. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews
