On a vacation in Tuscany, two families -- one Danish, one Dutch -- meet and become fast friends. Months later, the free-spirited Dutch family extends an invitation to the more conservative Danish one for a holiday weekend getaway at their countryside home. However, it doesn't take long before things gradually get out of hand as the joy of reunion is replaced with misunderstandings. The Dutch hospitality quickly turns unnerving for the Danes, and they find themselves increasingly caught in a web of their own politeness in the face of eccentric... or is it sinister... behavior. Critics Consensus

A social satire with razor-sharp teeth, Speak No Evil offers a darkly delicious treat for fans of misanthropic thrillers.

Audience Says

It's well-acted and definitely has something to say, but Speak No Evil isn't really scary -- and it'll be a tough watch for all but the most desensitized viewers.

Kristy Puchko Mashable Speak No Evil is a dark journey well worth the cost of admission. Oct 9, 2022 Full Review Scott Tobias The Reveal (Substack) A Type B nightmare come slowly yet ferociously to life. Rated: 3.5/5 Oct 3, 2022 Full Review Nick Schager The Daily Beast A thriller that depicts the path to hell as paved with minor transgressions. Sep 16, 2022 Full Review Joe Muldoon Battle Royale With Cheese Speak No Evil is an excruciating watch, and one worth surrendering ourselves to. A provocative satire of middle-class sensibilities, it forces its audience to look inwards in a way hitherto unexplored. Aug 9, 2024 Full Review Katelyn Nelson Daily Grindhouse Rather than invading the victim’s home, Tafdrup’s film turns the house into an invader itself, displacing the victims into a state of constant discomfort only amplified by the consistent invasion of their personal boundaries. Aug 4, 2024 Full Review Brian Bisesi Horror Movie Club Podcast Speak No Evil is artfully crafted with the intent for its viewers to have an unpleasant experience. That intention was fulfilled, and my experience was, in fact, unpleasant. Rated: 2/5 Feb 21, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Jonah K so close that it’s frustrating. there’s a point in this movie where the main characters lose every ounce of their agency. And by “lose”, i mean the script wrote it out of them. the story instantly stops being about what the characters are going through and instead decides to solely focus on things that are happening to them. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/31/24 Full Review Audience Member Half of the movie is italic and you have to read subtitles so fast. Also the first 30 minutes of movie is literally so boring, they've extended it for no reason. Waste of time. I don't know how it has 80+ Rotten tomatoes. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/27/24 Full Review Audience Member Uncomfortable and grim Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/27/24 Full Review Steen P Interesting beginning but terrible ending. I wouldn't recommend it. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/08/24 Full Review Waniya S Shows things parents often do, not understanding the affect it will have on children. Also who in their right mind goes over to strangers houses just cause they invited you oh so kindly? Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/04/24 Full Review Vito P The shocking thing about "Speak No Evil" is the depiction of our inability to defend ourselves against harassment: accepting minor everyday rudeness from others in the name of peaceful coexistence, politeness, good behaviour; and in more serious scenarios, showing how defenceless a civilised individual is against these inhuman manipulators.
