Adam Nayman Cinema Scope The Hateful Eight may really be sort of terrible. Sep 28, 2017 Full Review Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online While it's not his best film (it's far too long and indulgent at times), Tarantino absorbs the audience into a scene, compelling you to look at each and every inch of it--indicative of many vintage films (his usual film playground). Rated: B+ Sep 1, 2017 Full Review Claudia Puig The Asahi Shimbun GLOBE (Japan) The Hateful Eight often feels more like a sadistic stage play than a movie. [Full review in Japanese] Rated: 2.5/4 Dec 19, 2016 Full Review John Brhel Vague Visages When looking at Tarantino's filmography, The Hateful Eight doesn't hold a candle to works like 'Pulp Fiction' or 'Kill Bill,' but it's an entertaining film nonetheless — if you don't mind the runtime. Jun 5, 2023 Full Review Josh Parham Next Best Picture [Tarantino] manages to strike the delicate balance of keeping the intimacy of a stage while still infusing the material with enough cinematic flourishes to keep it from feeling too constrained. Rated: 9/10 May 27, 2022 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review This film is alive with great performances, breathtakingly shot visuals, and a story that seems to rush by over the course of three hours. Steven M. I am not a fan of this movie. Easily the worst Tarantino film of all-time! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/29/21 Full Review Kenneth P This was a typical Tarantino movie. I usually don't like his movies because I can't stand his directing. That being said I thought the storyline was fine but the over the top acting in parts as well as some dialog sounding as if the actors were seeing their lines for the first time was hard to take. As far as I'm concerned, Quentin Tarantino should have found a different career. I'm not sure if I know anyone that would enjoy this flick. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/03/24 Full Review Shane K There is a niche market for this movie. If you absolutely love Tarantino and you love westerns then this is probably a 5 star. For the average movie goer it's probably a solid 3. Really lacking the stellar acting performance (Dicaprio)that made Django so good. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/18/24 Full Review Jonas S A lot of time spent in wagons and a cabin. I will watch it again but only because I forgot most of it. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/01/24 Full Review Arthur F The Hateful Eight, Tarantino's eighth film, for me the best, the best constructed, there are scenes where the focus changes to give an indication of what is happening, the only thing that makes me not give it five stars is that there is a moment of film that has a narration done by Tarantino himself that is very poorly placed, other than that it is a great film. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/28/24 Full Review Mark H OK is it Tarantino's best no, but its still a master class in making a movie, it's a long film and slow in pace, like they don't make them anymore, it tells a story, it makes you feel all sorts of emotions for the characters and it's an absolute joy, the music is spot on, the cast were on point even the small parts (l love the scene with guitar how the reaction was real due to Kurt not realising he wasn't meant to smash that priceless guitar but a proper instead) I'm not saying you will watch it over and over but it is a great watch, the humour is just right not over the top, it is violent but hey its Tarantino you know it's part and parcel of the how he tells a story, its the the story's within the story, the not knowing what's gonna happen next, the characters highs and lows topped off by a great conclusion oh and no over explaining like so many movies do now.
