In a not-so-distant future, AI is all the rage and nature is becoming a distant memory. Tech giant Pegasus offers couples the opportunity to share pregnancy on a more equal footing via detachable artificial wombs, or pods. But at what cost? Rachel and Alvy, a New York couple, are ready to take their relationship to the next level and start a family. Rachel's work gives them a chance to fast-track to the top of the Pegasus waiting list. But Alvy, a botanist and devoted purist has doubts. Nonetheless, his love for Rachel prompts him to take a leap of faith. What to Know

Critics Consensus

With its roundabout script undermining solid performances from Emilia Clarke and Chiwetel Ejiofor, The Pod Generation stimulates the mind but not much else.

Tasha Robinson Polygon The material they’re [Clarke and Ejiofor] given is often slim and simple, but they lean into it with everything they can offer, and find the relatability in characters who feel more like symbols than like people. Sep 13, 2023 Full Review Robert Abele Los Angeles Times The movie’s core is as inert as an uncharged iPhone, taking most of the sting out of its cautionary satire. Aug 14, 2023 Full Review Peyton Robinson RogerEbert.com An opaque expression of an overly simple thesis. Rated: 1.5/4 Aug 11, 2023 Full Review Branyan Towe Loud and Clear Reviews If not for Clarke and Ejiofor’s performances, the ending to this story would have felt so unsatisfactory. Rated: 3/5 Jul 29, 2024 Full Review Rosalie Kicks MovieJawn The production design is top notch, but the story was muddled, the script needed work and the overall direction left me scratching my head. Rated: 1.5/4 Jun 19, 2024 Full Review Andrew Galdi Movie Bitches It was all vibes, but not much else Apr 24, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Google Surprising, witty with a good sense of humour Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/22/23 Full Review Jay The premise was interesting but after about an hour into the film you're just ready for it to end. Not a bad movie but also not a great movie either. Wait for it to hit streaming. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/19/23 Full Review Doug J Hugh potential concept for a movie story that was squandered but a very unimaginative script. Super disappointing ending. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/25/24 Full Review John B Interesting premise poorly delivered. That is not a critisism on the acting but the overal elivery of the film. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/22/24 Full Review Nicole G The trailer for this movie is hilarious and I love Emilia Clarke, so I was very much looking forward to the movie. However, the best parts of the movie are in the trailer. I was bored after the first 30 minutes and there is no satisfying conclusion. The movie just kind of ends. No wrapping things up or a glimpse of "where do they go from here" for our main characters. The credits just seem to roll when you least expect it. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/08/24 Full Review Barbara M Watchable thanks to the cast but was waiting for a big reveal that never came. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/18/24 Full Review Read all reviews
