The Rundown

What to Know

Critics Consensus

The Rundown doesn't break any new ground, but it's a smart, funny buddy action picture with terrific comic chemistry between Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Seann William Scott.

David Ansen Newsweek The Rock and Seann William Scott work up some nice comic chemistry, but it's the dependably warped Walken who steals the most scenes. The frenetically edited fight sequences will satisfy the blood lust of the target audience. Mar 12, 2018 Full Review Nell Minow Common Sense Media Mildly entertaining action movie with The Rock. Rated: 3/5 Dec 29, 2010 Full Review Empire Magazine Rated: 3/5 Apr 1, 2006 Full Review Kaleem Aftab The List The Rock and Scott play an unconventional buddy team that has a similar dynamic to Robert De Niro and Charles Grodin in Midnight Run, but without the acting ability or comic touch. Rated: 2/5 Apr 18, 2019 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews The Rundown‘s tolerable and periodically engaging atmosphere is due almost entirely to the charm of (and chemistry between) The Rock and Scott’s respective figures... Audience Member The dialogue sounds like it was written by a couple of Bellaire bros trying to sound tough and witty. Cartoonish characters, impossible fight sequences, dumb plot, dumb script, and over the top acting make this movie painful to watch. Probably the worst movie Christopher Walken ever appeared in. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/18/24 Full Review Audience Member This action movie is good, plot very driven and do like how each characters good chemistry especially The Rock & Seann William Scott when they grow and find away to become friends and frenemies in the end. Yes, there certain moments fighting came be yeah right and like have The Rock do his wrestling moved to make the movie good and it looks okay but it can be much but for is running time it goes fast and the location and visuals are amazing especially it being the early 2000s. All in all definitely recommend and give a A+👍👍👍👍 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/04/24 Full Review juan c Stifler from American Pie Franchise & the Rock is a Must Watch Comedy Action film ..😅😅😂😂 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/05/24 Full Review Forged S "You like thunderstorms big boy?!?" The new Call of Duty Modern Warfare III is out and I've been playing it like crazy. One of the major selling points for the game was they brought back the original 16 multi-player maps from Modern Warfare 2, a game that came out back in 2009. Several of these maps are set in Brazil, including one map called, "Rundown," that's a clear nod to 2003's The Rundown that starred Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in one of his early roles and Seann William Scott, hot off American Pie. It reminded me, I haven't seen this movie in ages, so I decided to watch it again... And boy I'm glad I did. Director Peter Berg was able to craft an action adventure comedy in the vein of Romancing the Stone that, for me, fits in a category I call, "movies the deserve a sequel but never got one." Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/10/24 Full Review Audience Member Peter Berg of ‘Friday Night Lights’ directs a jungle action-comedy starring Dwayne Johnson and Sean William-Scott Beck is a bounty hunter who doesn’t use guns and takes any job for the money His latest assignment is picking up his employer’s son Travis Beck finds him in the Amazon jungle and Travis is in a jam; he’s stumbled into a treasure in a hunter’s territory So both Beck and Travis are stuck in the jungle trying to evade the hunter and his hired guns Fun repertoire between Scott and Johnson, fun action scenes yet the whole thing comes off as forgettable Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 09/27/23 Full Review Wade W The Rundown, while not as effective or fun as Walking Tall, stands on its own as a quite competent Dwayne Johnson vehicle. It's got action, suspense and some great performances. Christopher Walken is here, too, so that has to count for something! It's a movie The Rock has become known for and it totally deserves a lot of the praise it gets. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/16/23 Full Review Read all reviews
