What to Know

Critics Consensus

Ali Wong and Steven Yeun are a diabolically watchable pair of adversaries in Beef, a prime cut comedy that finds the pathos in pettiness.

Daniel Fienberg Hollywood Reporter No show captured 2023’s undercurrent of unfocused discontent with the intensity, empathy and underlying humor of Lee Sung Jin’s eight-episode Beef. Dec 14, 2023 Full Review Judy Berman TIME Magazine At first, this simple yet amusing premise seems better suited to a 90-minute feature than a 10-episode Netflix series. But it soon becomes apparent that Lee is doing more than just a live-action Looney Tunes bit. May 8, 2023 Full Review Camilla Long Times (UK) This is a nerve-jangling, synapse-zinging ride into madness, and it’s great. Apr 25, 2023 Full Review Tamma Moksha The Hindu Ali Wong and Steven Yeun throw an irresistible petty party. Jun 10, 2024 Full Review Ricardo De Querol El Pais (Spain) In a way, these two lost souls hate each other because it makes them feel alive. [Full review in Spanish] Feb 28, 2024 Full Review Manik Sharma Firstpost Netflix’s quirky, subversive series is life-affirming in the sort of way that makes more sense today than it might have done a decade ago. Jonah K some of the best episode titles in recent memory. sad and lonely people doing sad and uncomfortable things. great performances and great writing(for the most part). overall, a very engaging, confrontational experience. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/31/24 Full Review no w the acting it top notch Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/29/24 Full Review Steve S I remember at last year’s Emmy awards this show was nominated for just about everything and won in several categories including Best Limited Series, Steven Yeun best actor and Ali Wong best actress. I had been meaning to check it out and finally did. The show is only 10 episodes around 30 minute each, so I binged this in 2 days. The premise of the show is two people engage in a road rage incident and their lives spiral out of control from there. The acting is outstanding and I can understand why Yeun and Wong won their awards. The writing is great too. Beef was certainly unique and like nothing I have ever seen before. There were a few spots where it went a bit over the top, but for the most part I really enjoyed it. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/18/24 Full Review El M Una serie fresca y extremadamente SALVAJE jajaja.. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/11/24 Full Review Sanduni R Steven Yeun and Ali Wong are just amazing in this. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/25/24 Full Review Tom H A refreshing show, with a great number of plot twists. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/24/24 Full Review Read all reviews
