Ruth is a longtime advocate for the legalization of marijuana, and she gets a chance to live her dream when she becomes the owner of a Los Angeles cannabis dispensary. Helping her run Ruth's Alternative Caring are her charismatic "budtenders": her entrepreneurial 20-something son and a troubled security guard. As one might expect, the trio is pretty much constantly high while working. The sitcom was co-created by genre veteran Chuck Lorre ("The Big Bang Theory"). Read More Read Less

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Bland and uneven, Disjointed does more smoke-blowing than joke-telling -- though it's further proof that Betsy Sodaro is a comedian to watch.

Melanie McFarland Salon.com Disjointed huffs down every cliché about marijuana and the degenerates who use it, blowing them back in our faces with such knee-slappers as "stoners love a good joke." May 10, 2019 Full Review Verne Gay Newsday Watch a multicamera sitcom on a family of pot retailers, and don't expect much in the way of coherence, or much in the way of laughs either. May 10, 2019 Full Review Robert Rorke New York Post Disjointed is a buzzkill. Rated: 1/4 Sep 13, 2017 Full Review Neal Pollack Decider If Disjointed would just have the courage to throw off the sitcom shackles, it could be a really important show. Jan 30, 2020 Full Review Alan French AwardsCircuit.com Unfortunately, this is a weak strain for anyone who enjoys the multi-cam genre. Rated: 1.5/5 May 10, 2019 Full Review Chris Cabin Collider Disjointed doesn't quite offend as much as its unyielding and unfunny flippancy renders each episode null and void as an experience. Shane D Please bring show back!!!Freaking hilarious....please Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/22/24 Full Review James S This is one of the best shows! I wish I could see more but it seems like what the audience likes doesn't matter here. Critics disliked it but the audience has an 89%!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/13/24 Full Review Bjrn L I really loved it, it had charm to it. The show was about marijuana and the culture of it. Complaining about them smoking a lot of the time in the show, is just petty. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/26/23 Full Review Bob A One of my favorite shows!!! I re-watch episodes all the time. Wish we would have gotten at least another season or 2 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/03/23 Full Review Charlton W The animations were cool. But its not a funny sitcom, even when you're high. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/20/23 Full Review Adam N I thought a stoner comedy with Kathy Bates would be at least a bit fun, how wrong I was. The show makes the bizarre choice to use canned laughter and has some of the most unoriginal stereotypical humour about weed that I've ever seen. I genuinely thought the first episode was some sort of parody that would turn into the real show at some point, it was that bad. If you were looking for a fun, new comedy that tackles jokes about cannabis and those that use it in any kind of new or innovative way -- look far, far away from here.
