What to Know

Critics Consensus

Zooey Deschanel 's offbeat style gets a worthy showcase in New Girl, and while It can get awfully cutesy at times, the show benefits from witty writing and a strong supporting cast.

John Doyle Globe and Mail It's so drenched in amiable nurturing that it could be mistaken for a Canadian series. Dec 3, 2020 Full Review John Griffiths Us Weekly Deschanel proves she's truly an ensemble player, balancing Jess' flights of fancy with a relatable empathy for her TV buddies. Rated: 3/5 Sep 15, 2017 Full Review Emily St. James AV Club My problems with New Girl, which I mildly enjoy but don't love and don't terribly have a lot of confidence in, mostly center on how formless the whole thing is. Rated: B- Sep 20, 2011 Full Review Nabila Hatimy The Star (Kenya) The show has an exceptional way of blending all these colourful characters into one smooth painting. Jul 17, 2020 Full Review Randy Dankievitch Processed Media Overall, New Girl's first season is a great case study of a new show adjusting its tone and personality on the fly over the course of a freshman season. Rated: B Feb 24, 2020 Full Review Santiago Gimeno El Pais (Spain) New Girl might just be the best comedy that the network has made as of yet. W H This is my comfort show! I miss it! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/21/24 Full Review David H I wish I could post a comment on everyone of the seasons And rate the show overall. Character development over the season, was so well done . The storylines were never boring, and there was never an episode where I did not laugh out loud. But When you watch this show over seven Season there is one character that stands out. And I really wish he got more credit for what he did for this show . Max Greenfields performance as Schmidt is up there as I personally believe top five characters in a series. His character stands out and can carry an episode with these. He’s to new girl as Kramer was the Seinfeld , Barney Fife was to Andy Griffith . Definitely worth a watch . Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/24 Full Review Gnomes d Funny and awesome! Great show for the evenings off and to relax. Great storylines and character build-up. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/30/23 Full Review Asma K Favorite show ever!!! The jokes are so natural and unexpected that you'll be laughing minutes after the joke has passed It's so modern as well and idk I just love everything about it Seasons 1-3 of New Girl were amazing but personally wasn't a big fan after season 4. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/23/23 Full Review Ser K Lead actress annoys the f*** outta me. That's the reason I gave up the series on episode 3. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/22/23 Full Review Allen H I like Zooey Deschanel but this show didn't hold my attention. I gave up after several episodes. Another reviewer called it awfully cutsie. I agree. It never felt natural to me, just actors acting. Later seasons got tremendous reviews so maybe I gave up too soon Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/20/23 Full Review Read all reviews
