Prime Video's The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power brings to screens for the very first time the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth's history. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien's pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness. Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone. It may not yet be the One Show to Rule Them All, but The Rings of Power enchants with its opulent presentation and deeply-felt rendering of Middle Earth.

Gautam Sunder The Hindu Though having a little too much exposition, showrunners John D. Payne and Patrick McKay pull out all the stops in this new Tolkienian saga, armed with some spectacular visuals and arresting performances. Jul 18, 2024 Full Review Joonatan Itkonen Toisto.net There are the beginnings of a great show here. If only, like the heroes in the epic story it tells, the series can shoulder the burdens a little while longer. Rated: 4/5 Jul 8, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Leroy P This is not Lord of the Rings, it's a cheap, pathetic imitation of a beloved series. These hack writers and poor acting does not give it any life or soul, not worth watching Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/10/24 Full Review Gareth D Tolkien was a far far superior Author than any of these screen writers. Such a wasted opportunity. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/10/24 Full Review Ellie H The hate is actually fucking insane!! Tell me u have never read a single Middle Earth book in ur life without telling me u have never read a single Middle Earth book in ur life. Almost every negative review is either about it having black ppl, or certain genders or it's not like Peter Jackson's hate to break it to all the losers but literally Tolkien fucking wrote black characters in certain races in Middle Earth also of course it's not like Peter Jackson's they are going based on the books! It's not going to be anything like his because he made his so different. Hobbit moves away from the books greatly compared to Lord of the rings but even Lord of the rings really isn't that close in terms of Tolkien's vision this is actually using what Tolkien and his son wrote for lore!!!! So please before u go complaining just remember all ur arguments are completely wrong and u shouldn't watch the show. If u believe it's genuinely bad writing yeah that's a valid opinion but if ur one of those losers who is upset about "Inclusivity" or "Changing the lore" ur dumb and need to read middle earth books, but the main character is annoying. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/09/24 Full Review Petro V An insult to the Tolkien heritage. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/08/24 Full Review Cody C Amazing show. Loved it from start it finish. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/08/24 Full Review Bryan B So for someone who truly loves the Hobbit and LOTR extended cuts I absolutely loved the series. I know it gets a lot of shade from true followers which I do not pretend to be. So naturally I immediately Wikipedia after I finished it. I’d purchase this for my home collection.
