I was very entertained by this show, which is based on a 1958 novel, and usually the best shows and movies are based on good books, in my opinion. There are multiple characters that are intriguing with separate stories that are brought together in a clever plot. I am a fan of period shows and this one did not disappoint. I am an avid fan of Anthony Hopkins and wish he had a longer role, but all the actors did a wonderful job in keeping me watching and empathizing with their characters. The costumes and visual effects are fantastic. This is historical fiction (again, based on a NOVEL), so I am somewhat annoyed by the reviews of people picking apart the historical inaccuracies. I hope the negative reviews do not dissuade the producers from creating a second season.
