Marc D I find this show rather formulaic, with simplistic plot lines, and stagnant characters. Yes, they have some trauma in their backgrounds that plays a role in their decision making processes; but you can still size that up fairly quickly. The scenery is pretty, and the leads are good looking. so if you don't expect much, at least you have that. There's such a cosy atmosphere that makes you feel that ideal communities exist and people are still good. I like that the whole show, although too soapy for some, focuses on community support and gives the viewers a sense of security and comfort. There is never a scene without a smooch and an "I love you", along with an excess of nosiness disguised as caring about the other person when they are all really self-absorbed narcissists desperate to turn the conversation to themselves and their own neediness. However, the show jumped the shark from the first episode and I'm reminded of it every show. Virgin River is surrounded by what look like 5,000 foot mountains and no one has any trouble making a perfect cell phone call which is amazing considering there isn't a single cell tower on any of the mountains. It's such a phenomenal fit. It's so amazing to see hope, played by Annette O'Toole back on the screen, because even though her character is annoying, that's what she's created to be. Vernon and Jack are questionable whether or not you want to like them or not, but eventually you start to feel these characters and you start to feel the development. Preacher is so phenomenal and so is everybody else that is part of this show. I highly recommend checking out the show I highly recommend getting your foot in the door of Virgin River.
